There's a difference in setting your lineup each week to be competitive (all teams should do this regardless of record).
fricking WOW.

you are crying about it now, but when that bottom tier team knocks off a team fighting you for the last playoff spot, you will probably change your tune.

quote:Tough shite. I'm trying to win games until the end. If you want me to stop being active in the league at the point I'm technically out of the playoffs, then give me some money back.
But by potentially making another team better by team can seem unfair to the rest of the league.

Every single trade potentially makes another team better.

I never said the losing team shouldn't be active. If I'm 0-8 I probably wouldn't be as active as a team who's 4-4/3-5 right now but I'm still going to play the waivers.
You have nothing to lose when you're 0-8 and you trade away Gordon. You're mathematically eliminated so making that trade shouldn't hurt you.

Making trades is part of being active, no?

Seriously dude. That's a dumb argument.

quote:Let's do another hypo. You're 0-8 and mathematically eliminated from the money. Why are you still active in the league? Why are you picking up guys off the WW? Why do you give even one ounce of a shite about your team?

How is it dumb exactly?
You're telling me you wouldn't be pissed if the guy who's (8-0) trades away Denard Robinson, a guy he probably picked up on waivers, for Gordon. Then adds Gordon to his playoff run to go along with Nelson, DT88 and a few other good players.
You trade Gordon away and he balls out the last 4 weeks of the season, you may not be invited back next season in that league. You see why other owners could have a problem with it?
Because you don't just let the team you're playing each week get a "easy W." I would put a lineup out there that has a fighting chance from the players I have or through the free agency market. The owner who forgets to set his lineup each week once eliminated is much worse

I feel bad for playing into your troll, but I just traded Kadeem Carey for Gordon in one of my leagues. I was pretty hesitant too
Posted on 10/30/14 at 2:56 pm to tzimme4
This is what's dumb.
Trades are theoretically made to make both teams better. The trade you make when you're 2-6 can either make your team go on a run, OR can cause you to win a game that would knock another team out of the playoffs.

quote:You advocate fielding the best possible team so as to not give away wins, just not if that requires trading. You're essentially saying you want an owner to stop putting the best interest of his team in mind because it might make a playoff team better. GTFO with that shite.

Jesus Christ.

Yeah. You don't take your ball and go home when you're not winning.
Posted on 10/30/14 at 2:59 pm to Gtothemoney
Yeah, I'll stop managing my team how I see fit if I'm eliminated from the playoffs. Just give me my money back.

Are we sure he's just going to show up and start going 10-162-2 every game?

Would you feel any different if that last place team made that same trade in week 12 just a week or 2 before the playoffs started? Let's say there's no deadline

As long as he's not dumping players, he can do whatever the frick he wants all the way through the end of the season. Want to make trades? Fine. Want to play the WW during the playoffs? Fine.

Im guessing you're one of those owners who plays the WW while playing in the loser's bracket on ESPN?
