Guess I'm selfish

Sorry we planned our wedding for the time of year we wanted and didn't call up every single guest to see if it interfered with every single guest's hobbies or birthdays or vacations or hunting schedule.

I mean....for some ....winter is out because they like to go off skiing or because of the holidays. For some spring is out because of baseball and CWS and March madness. For some summer is out because of vacations they would rather go on or its too hot where they want to marry at or whatever.

Not everyone hunts or cares about football.

NO tv at the wedding

Seems pretty obvious that this bitch is afraid that everyone will be focusing on the TV/game instead of her and her new husband when they do their shitty pre-orchestrated dance routine.

If people are watching the game and not recording their stupid dance, then the cell phone videos won't exist to be posted on the inter-webs. Therefore, her dream of having a VIRAL video of her craptastic dance moves will not come to fruition.

That is a FACT.

Exactly. At least meet people half way if you're going to pull some shite like this.

My wife got mad at me a couple of years ago when I skipped a NOLA wedding for the LSU-Bama game. I told her to have fun

We got married in Febuary during Mardi Gras. Just made it a big party

Its not fricking rocket science. THere are 52 weeks in a year, and there are +/- 14 weeks of football season. FIND ANOTHER frickING TIME OF THE YEAR TO GET MARRIED. If you grew up in Louisiana and are a part of the football culture, you have heard this issue come up every year, and there are STILL people that insist on getting their feelings hurt when they want to get married in the fall anyway. I dont blame one person who misses a wedding for a game they have planned for, paid for, have season tickets for, etc. I cant wait for my bride to be to plan out exactly the type of wedding she wants, but it with out a doubt, will not be in the fall during football season.

I purposely scheduled my wedding on the weekend before the NC game where there were no BCS games. The only bowl on the day of my wedding was the International Bowl.

I guess I'm just considerate.

Have they ever heard of late January, February, March, and April? You can still have your lovely outdoor wedding with cool temperatures at a time when there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE of messing up everyone's football. It's not just a damn game. It's tradition and family and friends. There is no reason to interfere with one of the 7-8 days that people circle on their calendar every year. I have skipped gameday weddings in the past and will continue to do so for the rest of my life.

My wife worked with a guy who didn't go to his sister's wedding because it was on the Iron Bowl Saturday. His sister and mom didn't speak to him for a year. The wedding was in Auburn and the game was at Auburn.

How dare I

To be fair....when planning mine I did try to stay away from the usually big game weekends(such as Bama game). I looked at previous years and saw it was usually a bye weekend or cupcake game. Wasn't expecting it to be south Carolina game at home(schedule came out after date set and non refundable money paid). While I didn't have the game at my reception (it was at the beach)....I tried to make sure my guests had a great time and had plenty of alcohol to get drunk off of. And didn't care if people were watching it on their phones.

What tool let's his wife schedule the wedding date?

That's kind of a broad sterotype there. I let my wife choose our wedding date, but then again she comes from a football and hunting family and I knew she wouldn't ever pick a time in the fall.

Girlfriends cousin is getting married next year and wants a fall wedding

We told her that the last weekend in October would most likely be a BYE week, but she doesn't want to to be a "Haloween wedding".

The bride to be actually asked me if it had to be during September..what weekend would you say is best. I told her Syracuse would have far less people pissed off at you

I hate the "Its just a football game" excuse for fall weddings. It's not just about it being a game. Its about 2 people having a narcissistic ceremony that is all about them and it takes up a whole Saturday night. knowing full well that people in the south like to hunt and watch football during this four month span, and you are robbing them of that.

I told a friend back in like '99 when he was getting married, just don't do Mich/Mich St. weekend because a lot of people in this state care about and may be going to the game. Of course, he picks that date "because it was the only one we could get." I decided if I was standing up in the wedding, I would go. Well, I wasn't asked to stand up, but do a reading at the church.
