Supposed to be better tasting than lamb and much healthier than beef.

It would help if you said where you live.

If you're in Houston, B&W Meat Co sells goat meat.

Halal markets usually have really good goat. There is generally one in every town/ city.

They will also have kufta, which makes great burgers. (like spicy ground beef mixed with lamb or goat)

If you want whole goat, they can get it too, as can restaurant depot.

Just the meat or will you be using this goat for some sort of initiation?

Yes, I have. Kased sells already seasoned ground meat for kebabs--it's tasty. You can pre-order all sorts of cuts and even whole animals. I usually go in on weekend afternoons, and I've seen a diverse cross section of people in the place. It's never what you would call crowded, but the stock isn't dusty or old, and it has decent produce. You can get the good thin skinned Middle Eastern cucumbers there too.

The Rouse's on Power usually has goat meat...at least something that looks like chops.

I've always been interested in it but had no idea what it was like. I might have to give it a try now.

Rouchers in Plaquemine, in addition to selling fresh whole pigs, will get a goat or lamb for you and slaughter if you want to roast a whole one or they will butcher it. I've gotten a couple small lambs from them and cooked whole. You just have to call ahead of time and request.

They will also get a calf or cow from the stockyard and slaughter and butcher for you if you like.

I've not seen it in LaMorenita but I have bought at the LSU Dairy Store frozen.
