While this article is atrociously written, I do agree that he has very little chance of winning MVP this year.

Spending 90% of his waking moments cruising Pelicans Talk and trying to convince us to be scared of the Rockets? Nah.

BTW, odds of Davis winning MVP will be better than the Rockets winning a title on Bovada once the player props get put back up (they already were pre-opening night).

The favourite? there's a shitload of money to be made on Davis winning MVP if you really believe that.

I'm putting money on it. Don't think he's the favorite but I kind of see what that guy means. He's the favorite to win if he has the season we hope. He's assuming he plays 82 games and keeps his rate of linear progression up and the team stays healthy. IF they do that, I could see him being the favorite. People run on about players from small markets not being able to win one, but correlation doesn't equal causation. I find the best players usually win it. One of the weakest MVPs in years came from Pheonix.

With even money, I'm taking Lebron because of his injury history/team quality/weaker conference/etc

who cars? the odds of harden or howard winning mvp will be greater than the odds of rockets winning a title too. do you think i care?? no i sure don't. the nba mvp is awarded by misguided dweebs like you who have a chip on their shoulder when it comes to certain players. the championship is won on the court. there's no comparison.

oh shite. What do you think about that Boom?

On my sports book, Davis is tied for 2nd in odds. So outside of Lebron, he's the favorite. Or tied for it.

That's because Nashs teams were winning 60 games a year. 80% chance imeo that the Pelicans won't even make the playoffs.

I understand you think that. I was merely addressing the myth that the best players don't win the MVP because of small markets. I think closer to the truth is that MVP caliber players don't play in small markets.

By the way the oddsmakers say that the Lakers are 75-1 to win a title and the Pels are 100-1. Knicks are 50-1. So knicks have literally twice as a good a chance at winning a title than the Pelicans. We can play the 'oddsmakers say' game all day long bro

We have to be a top 3 team in the west or top 4 seed in the league. Davis also has to have a superb year that is at least equivalent to the statistical output of what LeBron (Assuming #1 in the east), Westbrook (If he carries them to #1 in the West), Durant (If they go from a bad team/low seed to a top 2 west team), or CP3/BG (If they're a top seed) to get even a shot.

CP3 was robbed during the whole "Give it to kobe, life-time achievement MVP award" because the Hornets ended the season with a loss to the Lakers. We all know that.

You British brah?

Yes, he is the best player on what will likely be the most improved team in the league, that has no other true star to take away how important he is to his team.

And if I did bet, I would bet on him, but I don't so there you have it.

You're taking MVP literally, that's not how the award is decided. There's most definitely politics involved and one of the unwritten minimum requirements is being on a top 4 team. Just go look up the past winners. If AD wins the MVP this year, that may well be the least of his accomplishments.

For sure, just like the Heisman, it's not the MVP of the league, it's the MVP of a top tier team in the league.

this MAY be the case if there wasn't a team over there in Cleveland, OH. And a 10 game improvement would still leave this team outside the playoffs more than likely.

that's how it should be. The League MVP should go to the best player on one of the elite teams. Not the guy who puts up big stats on an average or slightly above average team. 80-85% of NBA games come down to a handful of possessions for a guy to be the most valuable player of the whole league he should win a whole lot more of those possessions than not.

10 game improvement would put us at 44 wins. I'll take my chances of us getting more than 44 wins if this team doesn't become the Falcons oline.

2013: 49 wins got you in
2012: 45 wins got you in
2011: 36 wins got you in
