Why? Bum entered in the 5th.

Well, they took the lead in the top of the 4th, and then Affeldt was the next guy to take the mound and hold the lead.

So he is technically in line for the win, which gives MadBum the save.

But it's pretty much always the guy that finishes the 5th.

I mean only if he's the starter.

FWIW, I thought the entire time they were going to give MadBum the save, not the win.

Did I really see that Bumgarner hit 2 grand slams this year?

The dude is ridiculous:

Yes.

If he was an every-day hitter, he'd probably hit .280 with about 20 homers.

He's just an all-around stud.

They just changed it to give Affeldt the win and MadBum the save.

As it should be. Affeldt was the pitcher of record when the Giants took the lead.

I know the scorer has discretion in that situation, but generally when that happens that's who gets the win.

He may be the Babe Ruth of our time. Theyre already on one same list (ERA).

KC was probably the better team overall throughout the series, but it's difficult to win a 7 game series when one of the opposing pitchers renders you absolutely helpless for 2.5 games. It was as impressive a pitching performance as we've seen in a world series in a long, long, time. Each of the KC hitters had 10-15 ABs against him, and none could figure him out. Wow!

Best performance all-time according to most pundits. Dude got 2 wins and a save in one world series

Push.

They were fortunate to win this year, especially considering they were a wildcard.

They probably won't win the division much anymore, so this could very well be the last one they win. Hopefully, at least.

Absolutely.

KC was the better team, but they couldn't get over the MadBum wall. Sucks for them, but don't be terrible at the plate in the biggest moment of the series next time.

It's not just that. When you look inside the 2 wins and 1 save you see that he pitched IIRC 20+ innings and gave up only ONE run. That's even more impressive when you consider that KC more or less hammered the rest of the Giant's staff.

I know.

These weren't two great teams, and it showed last night.

I hope we get better teams in the series next year.

Unreal. I started watching in the 6th inning maybe and I don't remember any base runners at all until the 9th (which should have been a single only).
