The Spanish Fork Dons had a 14-11 lead over the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles with 3.7 seconds left on the clock in a Utah Class 4A state play-in game on Tuesday night. On 4th down, all Spanish Fork had to do was run out the clock. The ball was snapped to quarterback Jason Money who ran right as he watched the clock expire. He then just sort of stopped, forgetting that the play had to end. Maple Mountain’s Jason Blanthorn stripped the ball and teammate Brandon Beebe picked it up and returned it 25-yards for the game-winning, season-saving touchdown.

they were 6-6... and apparently their starting QB hasn't watched football in his life... nor ever played Madden

The title of this thread makes it seem like the QB refused to run the play as called. The description of the events make it seem like he had a brain fart.

My friend's brother did something similar back in high school around 2001 or so. All he had to do was run out the clock and they would advance to the championship game where they would have been heavily favored. Well he ran out the clock, but then set the ball down. It was returned for a touchdown and they lost. It made it onto SportsCenter as well.

well he did if he knows better...

you never will see this happen anywhere with a winning tradition, where kids love the game and their teams from the time they can walk

Jesus man ca the frick down. The kids probably the PG on the basketball team and had a brain fart, doesn't mean he doesn't love the game.
You should take a break from posting for awhile

Yeah, but my point is that the OP put a title that makes it seem the kid was some sort of a-hole going for a record and refused to kneel and lose a yard or something.

And this kid is being recruited by teams like Arizona, BYU, Cal, Utah, Mizzo, Utah St,etc. ... Was invited to the US Army Natl Combine as well.

No offense to that kid, but he is an absolute idiot. All he had to do was take a couple steps back and just fall down or kneel down and they still win the game. I wonder how pissed his teammates are at him.

The coach should have called for a punt. There was only 3.7 seconds left. Even if the punter drops the ball, time would likely have expired.
