Hello folks....fresh meat here...but have lurked for a while and laughed my arse off at both camps that have entrenched themselves on this site.

My fan affiliation: Semi-Nega (translation: think Miles is a good coach who doesn't always prove than on game day).

So I posed my question in the title....IMO we're not. The running game has been solid if not spectacular at times behind a vastly improved line.
I've seen many clamoring for throwing the ball more. Others have pointed out we have thrown plenty (around 24 attempts per game). Problem is, we haven't COMPLETED enough passes for a myriad of reasons...so we're not stretching the field enough at critical junctures of games and keeping our O on the field.
Teams don't really respect us through the air yet and I don't believe Bama will in two weeks either.

If only Jennings could get red-hot that game....here's hoping he does!

Their secondary isn't that good, so we could manage 10-12 completions I think if we move Jennings around a little bit.

No. We will have to have D and Special teams clicking on all cylinders.

we ARE stretching the field (this is not the JJ days of quick slants)...just not completing enough passes(although AJ does very well when he rolls out; I anticipate we'll see plenty more of that next week)

and as far as keeping our offense on the field...TOP isn't bad at all. In fact, we destroyed OM in that department....again, this is not the offense of JJ/Crowton. It is better.

TOP true.....we're averaging about 33:00 minutes a game. But we still have stretches where we're 3 and out too much. We have got to dominate TOS to win....and as another poster stated, get STs involved early.

This is the Bama game. Both teams will go conservative. We lost in '12 because we got fancy.

Did Ole Miss put extra players in the box?

Was Ole Miss able to shut down LSU's running game?

I don't care if a team doesn't respect LSU through the air if it doesn't affect what they do on the field.

Ole Miss might have had zero respect for LSU"s passing game, but they didn't put more people in the box, and they didn't do anything to slow down LSU's rushing attack.

Why even try to be balanced, lets just direct snap it all game and not even pretend that we might throw the ball. Theres room for Jennings and Harris both on the bench.

If we rush for over 160 and have 15 completions we win.

I'm sure you asked this same question before the Ole Miss game. We all know the outcome.

Look, this team CAN'T be balanced. We don't have the QB to make it happen this year. If we can't run, we can't win. It makes no sense for this team to try to do something it can't do.

The formula to beat Bama is the same as it was to beat Ole Miss. We'll see if it's good enough.

If you use QB rating to determine who the better quaterback is (which I realize is stupid), then we should just start Magee and get the best of both worlds

What formula to be -4 in turnovers until the last play? Miss a 29 yd fg? Fumble at the 1? If LSU's defense keeps up its level of play that its had the last 3 weeks, they wont lose again.

If Bama dusts off the 2012 BCS gameplan of the "mush rush" (keeping aggressive pressure from the defensive line but keeping a pocket). JJ could not use his feet to run around to buy time or run.

If Bama can FORCE Jennings to be a pocket QB, then a good chance this will get ugly. LSU offense will have to counter that in some way, either with slants or a good damn running game on the edges.

I don't think LSU will have the same type of success running between the tackles like they did vs Ole Miss. Two different types of defenses.

Jennings has never done this.

No we really aren't balanced enough, but it's doesn't matter if we can be effective running the ball.

Not the same. JJ never really felt comfortable in the pocket. Jennings primarily tries to stay in the pocket and has already shown more of a pocket presence than Jefferson. He doesn't get too rattled by blitzes or contains and is solid at getting rid of the ball before the sack. If anything Jennings needs to scramble a few more times per game.

Would shat myself for 15 completions!! But I think we're gonna need more than 160 on the ground to pull this one out.
