We just passed the 30th anniversary of the 1st time we were told John Connor would defeat the machines. IT'S BEEN 30 frickING YEARS AND WE FINALLY GOT TO THE WAR AND NOW THEY ARE GOING BACKWARDS
Posted on 10/29/14 at 5:33 pm to saintsfan22
yeah I didn't think finally exploring the war was a bad idea, but turning the keys over to a fricking hack like McG was stupid.
salvation was still better than Terminator 3

I want to see old Arnie fight young Arnie.

This is what happens when you have to bend the story to explain the fact that the "machine" is now an AARP member.
It will have a great opening weekend, though, giving them no reason to change anything they're doing. Will not see.

Not necessarily. Salvation opened with 42 mil on Memorial Day weekend. I don't see expectations going up for this one.

I think we may be the same person. That rant was pure poetry.

i don't have a problem with this. it's not like the other movies are going away.
it's a different timeline, not a retcon

Focus on finishing the fricking story instead of new timelines.

they tried doing a movie after judgment day and it didn't work. they are going back to the tried and true method but at least they are taking an outside the box spin on it rather than just rebooting it.

Because it was retarded. A post Judgement Day movie can work fine.

Outside the box thinking got me that half man/half machine bullshite from Salvation. This outside the box with old Arnold Terminator sounds just as dumb.

This can't be real. Joke right? That plot could only be worse if Arnold taught kindergarten as an undercover terminator

sure but that's not how studios think

that hook was not what made Salvation shitty, and this hook won't be the thing that makes or breaks this one.

It really killed the canon. It was a contributing factor to the suck.

No, but it will be a contributing factor.

I'm not saying it can't miss, they could easily frick this up, but if we're going to get yet another pre-judgment day chase across L.A. then they need to do something to spice it up. If they do it right, it will be like back to the future 2 or the Star Trek reboot. If they don't then it will be a trainwreck, but at least then it won't be a boring one.

Unless they're splitting the movie between "present day" and "future war", it looks like the whole gaggle of resistance fighters are coming back in time so maybe a (small) twist is that Ah-nold gets taken out early.
That seems better than having "Pops" convincingly play the guise of a 70 year old running around.

A great opportunity was missed with Bale's John Conner. Franchise was finally moving forward with the story, now all this crap.

The next one they will go back to the old west and try to kill Sarah's great great grandmother as her great great grandfather is hiking up that skirt.
