See, I don't mind at all what the committee is doing. I like conference champs only. I'm not big into second chances.

I like the idea of conference champs getting the nod when all other things are equal, but I also don't think it should be a rule. There needs to be some judgment. I also don't think the SEC would agree to this route. For example, an undefeated SEC west team losing in the SEC championship game to a 3-loss SEC East team would mean the SEC would lose a representative in the playoff for sure with a conference champion rule.

They should have a committee that determines the rules the cfb playoff committee should follow, then they should submit their results to a committee for final approval

The problem is that not even the computers can make that determination.

Hard for anyone to argue that the computer at the end of the BCS was on target...
sometimes the no 3 team and/or the no 4 team could have had a valid argument, but seldom team no 5.

Therefore, if they have just added the ONE GAME, all would be well.

Now, I will tell you my view..at first I thought the committee was formed to prevent 2 SEC teams from being the final four, which may happen as some members try to pick one team from each of the major conferences...but there may still be 2

the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that the reason was not to prevent 2 SEC teams, but to never allow 3 SEC Teams in the finals. NCAA's goal is to maximize viewing audience and thus revenues... with the computer, THAT POSSIBILITY existed.. with the committee, IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN .. NCAA is happy .

Your premise is flawed...simply because they are setting a precedent.

If State wins out and loses to 11-2 UGA in the SEC CC Game, do both State and UGA go?

Depends on whether there is three more one loss conference champs.... FSU
MSU
Oregon with one loss will get in over Miss st.

An SEC Champ Georgia is in at 11-2 brother

Agreed. Any SEC champ at 11-2 is in. There's a good chance several other Big 5 champs have multiple losses as well. ND could be handed their 2nd loss this weekend.

Has anyone talked about this scenario: MSU and Auburn winning out. Georgia wins the east with 2 losses and then beats MSU in SECCG. Would the committee take 11-2 SEC Champ Georgia over 11-1 Auburn, who would have beaten Georgia?

you are entitled to your opinion,

but I would bet you, if it could be proven, that I am more right than wrong....there will never be 3 SEC teams... NO MATTER WHAT THE COMPUTERS OR PEOPLE SAY, the committee will NEVER allow it

...follow the money !

true, but the Big 12 plays nine conference games...not the same as a championship game, but worth noting. And Big 12, without a championship game, determines its champion better than those conferences with a championship game.

Wish the SEC had fewer teams and everyone played all the other schools in the conference.

I guess when the SEC team that gets in wins it all and the bowl games play out as expected with SEC winners predominantly, we are vindicated. The good news.... WE ARE FRESHMEN .... TONS OF ACTUAL FRESHMEN!!!

4 conference champions in the playoff, that's this committee's biggest desire

yep.

Hell I heard the talking heads on tv and radio praising them for being able to look beyond conference affiliation to put the true 4 best teams in and not caring about making anyone mad

bull shite is bull shite. there will be 4 separate conferences represented. how anyone thinks otherwise is beyond me. television and television revenues will trump ANYTHING AND ANYBODY. it's easy as hell to spin any of the 4 to make it as being deserving. a middle school kid could pull that off.

Don't overthink this thing. This Committee DOES NOT care what SEC fans think of them. If fans think the Committee is doing things to please them or out of fear of them they are delusional.

This whole thing will work itself out as teams play the season. All conference champions might have 1-2 losses.

Personally I do not like the committee and think we should just take conference champions regardless of their records. Hopefully we get there one day.

As someone posted earlier, the guaranteed way for the SEC to get two teams is for State to be 13-0 and Auburn to be 11-1. In that scenario, I believe State would be the #1 seed and AU the #2 seed no matter what else happens. AU has to beat Ole Miss, UGA, and bama to get to 11-1 and all those games are on the road. AU is #3 now. AU would jump undefeated F$U, imo.

It will certainly be interesting watching the rest of the season unfold.
