Those wouldnt be the 4 best teams though. Thats what the committee is supposed to select, no? The 4 best teams?

We don't know what the committee is suppose to select

They could select 4 best, 4 most deserving, 4 conference champs

There are no rules or any accountability for them with the exception of mad fans (which happens every year anyway this we keep changing shite)

I agree with this. It amounts to an affirmative action for cfb. I hope that this is not true. We will see.

Yes, we do...
the BEST 4 teams .... the problem is that each of those 12 humans will have it's own definition of BEST, while at the same time trying to resist outside pressure.

..the computer can not be influenced, people can.

They have no obligation to select the 4 best teams

The committee already addressed the fact that there is a difference between best and deserving

Miss. State and Auburn win out..... they are BOTH in. Not a question.

I wouldn't mind seeing this..... and seeing LSU win out and get the best non-CFP bowl game as a reward.

I don't hold out much hope of LSU making the CFP with the types of losses that they had, but if they were ultimately against an undefeated Miss. St. and a 1-loss Auburn, whose only loss was at Miss. St., then they are a solid top 6 - 9 team at the end of the year.

OP is exactly right and it has been obvious as day as soon as they announced it. ESPN talking heads applauding their impartiality and "courage" putting 3 SEC teams in when anyone with half a brain knows those teams still have to play one another and will definitively knock the others out.

There is nothing of insight or value to take away from this. It was a very politically savvy and OBVIOUS route to take.

That is the logic

I think ruse would be a better fit. Anther poster said it when he described reaching the widest audience, meaning the most money from TV. An SEC heavy playoff does not satisfy that requirement.

that's the reason that the BCS was born...
to eliminate politics .. what's deserving ?

..everyone gets a trophy ?

I don't understand the obsession with giving second chances to teams that didn't get the job done the first time vs. rewarding those who did, namely conference champions.

The problem is that not even the computers can make that determination. This isn't the NFL or NBA, there are few match ups between conferences. There was a thread the other day that showed the SEC has played 7 total games against the other major conferences this year.....14 teams have combined for 7 games. Yes, there are three more with Florida/SCAR/UGA playing their ACC rivals the last week. That's still not enough to make a real determination.

I agree. Right now, LSU has almost as good of a chance at making the playoff as Georgia

If Georgia wins out they're in...period. You can't say that about LSU...they would need help.

The committee made it pretty clear what they think about 2 loss teams, that is to say they are essentially irrelevant short of a cfb meltdown of 2007 proportions

Sounds like this committee is an opportunity for order to be restored for ND, Ohio and Mich.
