We're a bench scorer away from being really fricking good

Not worried about the FT or outside shooting, that will come. On top of that, our frontcourt is elite and our guard play is good enough to take over games if need be. However, from watching games tonight and in the preseason, it seems that the only guys we will really rely on off the bench are Ryno, Jimmer, Rivers & Salmons.

Ryno, if he stays healthy, will do his usual thing and Rivers is not terrible off the bench as long as he plays within himself (pass first, attack the rim off the dribble). Jimmer is a wild card in that he have a night where he is automatic from beyond the arc and other nights where he could become a black hole. Not sure what we were expecting from the Salmons signing. He is pretty much done.

We just need another guy in there to really solidify that 2nd unit. I'm not sure how to fix that presently, but just an observation.

Sons, we are close.

ETA: But in all seriousness I agree. If the Pels can develop a bench, team could be scary.

Bench combined for:
12/35 fg; 3/11 3pt; 6/11 ft
33 points
13 rebounds
6 assists
1 turnover
2 steals

The bulk of that is Ryno.

Jimmer was the worst player on the floor tonight for us. Salmons is shitty.

Rivers showed some flashes. Depth will hurt us down the road

Ryno will do very well in his role as he showed tonight.

Rivers outside shot looked better and he's been solid on D.

Ajinca is one you forgot to mention. He's been productive in limited minutes and has a nice game.

Jimmer is a wait and see imo.

I wouldn't mind a bench SF from somewhere.

Yeah I agree. I'd like to see him get more minutes, but I can understand if he doesn't.

I'm sorry. We must have attended different games. I really have no vested interest in Jimmer, but his defense was better than expected and he showed that he's a smart player. Give him time.

No one in the "Core 9" came close to posting a negative +/- tonight. The -6 at the end of the game with the scrubs skews that a little bit if you look.

Our bench is fine. Our rotation is fine. After AD, we didn't have a single player eclipse 35 minutes as a combo of Asik/Davis/Anderson was always on the floor with the bench.

Fredette had an off night but if he finishes at his 40% career average on the season (I'm expecting slightly higher coming in at around 42ish), he's the perfect compliment to Rivers + random starting playmaker guard / crappy SF for 5-8 minutes playing with the 2nd team.

ETA: The garbage time crew committed that 1 whole bench turnover as well.

Meh, from the way they used him in the preseason and not putting him on the floor until garbage time tonight, I only think he'll have a role on this team if Asik and/or Davis continually get in foul trouble.

We played the Magic.

There is a fricking chasm between Ryno and the rest of our bench, we need someone else.

I think he will be ok, he just didnt play well tonight offensively. He was tasked with guarding Luke Ridnour and Payton, who pose little to no offensive threat.

it's pointless to dress Withey and Anjica. Go find some wing help. Anywhere. Trade one of these dudes for scraps, I dont care.

You're probably right. But if we stay remarkably healthy, we can fake it.

They don't need to give him a ton of minutes because AD/Ryno/Asik take 90+% of the minutes most nights.

He should a lot of promise last year and is fine for 10 min gig. He'll have a role albeit a small one.

Probably him

Ajinca is more impressive to me and his offensive game is a better compliment to Asik than Withey.

I have no idea what bench wing we could target. Or even if we're in the market.

You are finding crap to worry about right now with no statistical evidence to back it up other than Jimmer's off shooting night. Calm down please.
