interesting article

"Because Jennings has pitched the ball so quickly, he has time to block the trailing weakside linebacker and prevents him from catching Fournette from behind."

on hey look at that, we dont just toss the ball for no fricking reason. gosh, who would have guessed.

Good article. Thanks OP.

Did Pocic really pancake the Gator guy as bad as it looks in the top photo?

However I have no problem with the toss sweep.

LSU has been gaining more yards on basically every other type of run they have been running (hello toss sweep). We even almost fumbled that pitch on our last offensive drive (that hasn't been a problem, but it almost was as the broadcasters pointed out when it happened). Also, when you have the QB situation that LSU has, it's not really ideal to have your QB blocking (that's what all those TEs and FBs are for).

I dunno. I think this is the best QB situation to have if you are going to use them to block. QB gets hurt and not much changes.

You may be on to something. You owe it to the program to call coach Cameron and let him know what you've found

Seriously, how many teams ask their QB to block LB's on running plays?

I'm not criticizing, but thats kinda crazy if you think about it.

Have you watched it? He doesn't block anyone. Just stands in the way and slows the backside defender down. There is no risk in so far as the quarterback rarely makes contact with the backside defender.

An LB could come and roll him (whether he is really throwing a serious block or not) because the QB is in one way or another obstructing him from making the tackle. The person that wrote the article talked about Jennings blocking the weakside linebacker effectively.

Oh, we got us a bad-azz over here! Well, considering that most of the fans were calling for Beckwith many games before they finally decided to start him on D (and that has turned out very well), perhaps the fans aren't always dumb.
