Shouldn't they have been negotiating for a long time now? Isn't all of this negotiations until they sign?
Anyways, this would be fantastic news, but as a current A-lister.... this is going to cost Marvel a ton to lock him in for 5 or so movies.

Precisely. What i mean is that line makes it sounds like this isn't news. He might be the preferred choice, but he's been rumored for a long time, and nothing is signed.

idk if its only the cast holding the show up. pretty sure moffit also said sherlock has taken a backseat to his involvement with Doctor Who. the entire Sherlock operation seems to have outgrown the show, which makes me sad since its the best thing out there right now.

yea I thought the whole point to the Sherlock format was that it would allow them to keep working concurrent projects. Since he did 4 movies(at least) while working on Sherlock you would hope this doesn't delay it for long.
yea if they land him, it's a huge win for Marvel.
as I've said, if you can land Cumberbatch or Fassbender for a role you are pretty much golden.
