Bowl Projections and Names

Today CBS projects LSU to play Maryland in the Tax Slayer Bowl. The what? The Tax Slayer Bowl. It's a household word, no?
No! It isn't. And shouldn't be. I had to look the damned thing up on google to realize it used to be called the Gator Bowl, and that it is in Jacksonville, FL, the same state I live in.
I hate these commercial/corporate names for football bowl games. I mean if they must have some attachment, why not the Gator Bowl, (sponsored by Tax Slayer) or something that a human being can relate to and connect to a particular location (like Jacksonville).
Even if it's not the best bowl in town, or on a list of best bowls ever, Gator, Music City, even the Hall of Fame and Independence Bowl kinds of names have a certain ring to them that IMO makes for some much better vibes all around.
Agree or disagree, but that's my Monday rant.

What do you think slays more taxes? "Tax Slayer Bowl" puts it right out in front.

I'm thinking Peach or Citrus at this point.

I agree with you, but it is all a product of the corporate world in which we reside.

So let's just all agree to call it the Gator Bowl then.

It annoys me too, but it's not all bad. At least the Peach Bowl went back to its traditional name.

Look on the bright side, at least it isn't the Beef O'Brady Bowl...WTF kind of name is that...

Maryland? Jesus, they got throttled by 45 by Wisky this week.

A couple of Maryland's uniforms make me dizzy. Has all the makings of a game LSU will not get up for after playing Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State and Wisconcin.

Peach is way different now though, not possible for this team.

That would be awesome if they played in jax

That is now a BCS (or bowls formally known as the BCS) bowl, along with the cotton.

They always sponsored the bowls on some level; they just weren't so greedy that they had to put their dumb corporate names out front of the game.
