Nucky got it in the face just like Tony Blundetto.

Much better ending than The Sopranos.

Got it in the face just like Jimmy Darmody.

Hate that he went out but if he was gonna go that's how it needed to happen. Pretty satisfied with that.

Saw it coming as the show built up to the end. Not sure if I liked it. It could have just as easily ended with Nicky living and retiring to New York with Margaret. I think I would have preferred that. Tommy killing him is too cliche.

Damn. Now I see why the flashbacks all season were necessary. Good finale!

Is it really that "cliche"? I think Nucky walking away from a life of crime isn't realistic at all in my mind. He had to go in some capacity and Tommy killing the man who killed his father makes sense.

Very good final episode, IMO

I thought there was no way I would be satisfied by the end of it, but they did a great job tying up some loose ends, finishing the flashback and tying it in to the ending(though I don't know what happened to Mabel), and keeping you thinking throughout.

I even had a hunch from early on that the kid was Tommy and expected that ending, but it was still great to watch.

If I remember correctly, Nucky told Margaret in season 1 that Mabel had the baby but it died shortly after being born, but she continued to take care of it. Either way I think he had to go out.

Nicky didn't walk away from crime he was forced out. His criminal enterprise days were done and over or Luciano would have him killed. With the Mayflower money he would have been on his way to a life of legitimate business, perhaps even redeemed himself. I guess my issue was you could see this ending coming a mile away. Maybe it was the appropriate ending but it could have easily ended another way and it would have been believable.

My thoughts exactly.

From the start of this series you knew that Nucky was either going to die or end up in jail. Most people in that business during that time frame saw the same fate. Him retiring and living in NY or somewhere else would have been pretty disappointing...even though I was deep down rooting for it.

I could see him dying, but I certainly didn't see Jimmy Darmody's son doing it from "a mile away".

What ending would you have rather seen that would've been believable (I don't really see how this one wasn't)?
