I bought a 99 GMC jimmy for 2 grand about a month ago and I guess now the engine is blown and can't be fixed. It has 140k miles on it, with a new transmission and new brake cylinders. Should I pony up another 2 thousand for a new engine or just cut my losses?

New engine. Unless someone will give you what you have in it.

New engine.

You can make a lot of repairs for what a new car costs.

For $2K, new engine, you know it'll run well.

Buying another $2K vehicle is another gamble. At least with a new engine you could sell the jimmy for more than scrap later on.

New engine.

The cost to repair a vehicle is almost always, like 99.9% of the time less than the cost of buying a different vehicle.

You can scrap it for a grand. Then go but a late 90s jeep.

that block doesn't cost that much. A 99 Jimmy? Is that the 3.8 or the 4.3?

But that truck has a low resale value, and after the engine you will be upside down on it. A 90'S Blazer/Jimmy is in that "$1000 car realm"

I tend to agree on just fixing what thou have but you may have bought a lemon. It would stink to keep throwing good money at something that will keep having problems. Often when old cars start breaking down the rate of breakdown only increases.

What engine and what exactly is "blown" about it? I've seen people panic about replacing an engine for a major oil leak that turned out to be a $15 oil-pressure sender that failed inside.

Please give more information about how much you paid for it and why you think the engine is blown. That engine should've lasted longer than 140,000 miles
