Delacroix 10-23/24 Kayak Fishing

My buddy and I went out Thursday afternoon and Friday morning.
Thursday we would get bites, but no takers. I was fishing a white with green tail Vudu shrimp about 2 1/2 to 3 feet under a cork. I decided to try tipping the hook with a little piece of dead shrimp and that was the ticket. I only ended up with one black drum and six specks, but the specks were all nice. They were more aggressive when biting and fighting than I've seen before (maybe I just got used to bream and crappie over the summer). I only had one undersized trout, most were 13 inches or bigger.
Friday we went out to the same spot expecting to do a little better with a falling tide rather than a rising tide, but nothing was there. I tried a myriad of different things from live shrimp to spoons, nothing. So I went over to a small bay and tried the mouth, nothing. I noticed some action deeper into the bay and went and tried. I caught two reds, six bass (no wall hangers, but they all filleted nicely) and three trout. All of them (except one bass I caught on a surface walker) were caught with live shrimp.
I tied into one red that I fought for at least five minutes. I got him to the boat and I had ahold of my line to pull him into my lap. He was fighting so hard at that time and I couldn't find my net (need to clean my shed) that I decided to wear him out a little more before trying to land him. He went and found a grass bed and worked the hook out. I never saw him and doubt I'd have kept him if he were as big as he felt, but I sure would like to have feasted my eyes on him. Like I tell my daughter, it's not the ones you catch that bring you back, it's the ones that get away.

Nice little trip and great report.

Nice report, and shows your persistence. And you're right, the biggest fish stories out of my boat are about the ones that got away.
Just curious... Does it get uncomfortable after sitting for a few hours in kayak? I just don't think my back could take it.

My ascend seat is comfortable. Like a mini poolside chair. It's stable enough to stand so I stand now and then to make some casts or piss. I don't really get tired of sitting in it.

I have the old style Ascend seat. My arse does get rather sore after about an hour. I cut the arm parts off a youth life jacket and use the rectangular back part to slide under my seat. It helps to distribute the weight to my thighs rather than directly to my coccyx (tail bone). I don't really have a problem with my back, just my arse bone.
