I wonder about shite like this all the time.
Why pay 38K for a shitty F-150 that will depreciate and not be nearly as cool as a 20K truck that essentially is brand new because it's been redone?
Vehicles have come a long way over the years. I've driven s few classic muscle cars and they are fun as heck, but they aren't the most comfortable and they disn't handle very well
Makes you appreciate the little things in your own ride

Oh that one is even better.

Buddy had a rusted out one of those growing up. He couldn't drive the "three on the tree" shifter so his dad rigged in a floor shifter and left the hole in the floor.
It was fun for riding in the back of heading to the spillways to go shoot our parent's guns.

Just out of curiosity I was browsing listings for 70's and early 80's Chevy pickups last week. Had no idea how high those things were going for. Guess I'm not the only guy out there who wants one of the models we used to see on the streets as kids.

Predictable collector car market. When the generation that saw the cars in their teens get money (later in life, after kids out of the nest, and retirement), the value goes through the roof. The 67-72's have tripled in value in little over 10 years.
Next, look at the late 70's vehicles to sky rocket. Even though the emissions neutered just about every vehicle, they are already going through the roof in value. The late 70's Camaro and Trans Ams are already ridiculous even for V8 cars that had less HP than today's 4 cyl cars.

1) F-150 isn't shitty
2) Even with a lot of work into it, the old truck is still gonna need work now and then. If you don't know what you're doing or don't have time for it it's a hassle. Especially for a daily driver. No warranty, so at least you get a few years of coverage for a new vehicle. Old one, something breaks, $$$$.
It just doesn't make much sense as a daily driver i fyou don't have time on your hands

Kickin the knowledge!
I have a 79 Scout with the 345 V8 as a knock around truck. Seems like the prices on those have about doubled in the past few years.
I'm considering doing a complete overhaul like Icon does with the Bronco and making it suitable as a DD, although it wouldn't be. More of a weekend truck to haul boats and dirt bikes/ATVs.

Here in central Alabama, about a week ago at a nearby state park, there was a small car show of about 80 vehicles. I recall seeing about a half dozen restored C10s and one original in really fine shape. I was surprised at the asking prices on the few for sale.

I REALLY want to sell my 2010 f150 for something older. Problem is I've got 2 in car seats so it's gonna be tough. 80+% of the 90's style f150's are single cab. There's not many extended cab pickups pre-1985. I'm leaning towards an early-mid 90's bronco (OJ style). Maybe with a removable top.

I used to have a 72 Chevy c10 fleetside. Bought it for 900 bucks, it would run and drive. I completely rebuilt the engine (350 small block with 450 turbo automatic transmission) I redid the interior, new radio, speakers, steering wheel, dash pad, paint, seats, seat belts, A/C. I put bullethole rims on it and dual exhaust. It was a cool truck..ended up trading it in straight up for a z71

Location was Latrobe, PA. Wonder if the seller is Arnold Palmer.

I have a 1970 Chevy Fleetside long bed at my farm. First truck I ever drove and I still drive it. It's beat up a bit but still works fine. I don't want to restore it. That would take the character out of it. I just like to keep it well maintained but let it show it has been and still is a work truck. I love throwing some tools or a chain saw in the back and heading out to work on something. It still has the original painted signs on the door from my fathers business. My young daughter has learned to drive it at 11 (which is when I learned in it) and its rather satisfying to see her coming down the dirt road to bring something out into the field or the barn.

I'd have to choose this bad boy. Don't any of you assholes act like you wouldn't drive the hell out of this thing around campus.
any campus.

2-speed 'glide. Can rebuild one with simple tools while watching football. Run on John Deere hydraulic oil too.

Why would you want a slow, unreliable hard to start, unsafe, bad riding truck?
Posted on 10/26/14 at 12:46 am to Tigah in the ATL
I like it for what it is. (Shrugs)
It also would be an excellent investment.

Not to mention airbags, anti lock brakes and crumple zones.
