Break fingers until he pays you back. Pretty simple.

We have the no loaning money to family rule. It's really impossible for me to say no when my mom calls me and asks for money for some bill or something.

She is at least very good at paying me back.

I would have to make an exception for mom, assuming she's not a user.

Relatives are "friends" you didn't choose and given undeserved loyalty bc of a biological accident

Nope, not a user. She just doesn't manage money well and they don't make a great deal. She is the type that would skip a bill to make sure everyone had awesome gifts for Christmas.

Doesn't make sense but that's just the way she is, no changing her now.

Mom? I gave her a pain in the arse for years, there's nothing I could do, or wouldn't do, to pay that back. Plus that "giving birth" thing too...

I don't even waste my time loaning; if I have it and they really need it, I'll just let them have it. It's not worth the hassle and hurt feelings between close friends and family.

I never loan family money; but I will give them money if they need it. They always pay me back, even though I tell them not to.

I let my brother borrow $1K a couple of years back. Almost caused a divorce when his wife found out. She has plenty of pride. Him... not so much.

Damn familiar. I did the exact same thing, divorce went through though. My older brother was treated like shite growing up by our father. Being the youngest I saw it all. Dad wasn't evil, but he wasn't a saint or a good dad. You've heard the story, "Jr.? he's not good enough" Was the message I saw. I have helped "Jr." every chance I had, he's helped me, but this crap about money is bullshite. He isn't the only one in the family to do it, but ya'll know what?

This is a simple rule that I've learned years ago. If someone needs a loan because they are strapped for cash, how in the hell are they going to catch up, and then have the extra money to pay you back? They won't. Not only that, it's like they never remember that you loaned them money.

Direct application of a baseball bat to the patient's kneecap will cure monetary induced amnesia.

Or so I've heard.

When I've loaned money to family or friends, I forget. If they pay me back it's like a bonus.
Thank God it's never been enough for me to worry about and I trust them anyway.

I once had to take my payment in the form of furniture from a recently repossessed home in the hope to break even. I did not. Screw people.

No such thing as a loan to a relative, always consider it a gift. If you can't afford to give it to them, then don't.

This is not always accurate. A lot of times they just don't want to pay you. They can catch up if they want to, they just don't want to. I have people ask me for money and they have a bigger TV than I do, brand new car while I have a 15 year old one, go out and do more things than I do, better phone.....

Currently one person owes me and they're paying me back as agreed. It's for their future and they're young so I helped them. But bullshite that it's a gift. I NEED MY MONEY and I made that very clear when I handed it over. Pretty much ready to cut everyone off because I try to use it as a teaching moment and most people don't learn and it's just leads to stress waiting to get back the money I worked hard to save.

I just try to make it uncomfortable for people to ask me now and most know not to ask unless they have a very good reason, they don't want to hear me preach!
