I've been to every meaningful LSU game since 03.

The best environment of any game is ever attended was the NFC Championship vs the Vikings. 03 UGA and 07 Florida were the closest thing to it

Domes do seem to be louder though. I remember from the 04 SECCG when LSU fans had a third of stadium at best and it was loud as shite when they scored. A full dome of fans all cheering for the same team in a meaningful game can get really loud.

Having been to hundreds of NFL games I am just flabbergasted that some people have never been to even one!

I guess I've just been spoiled by growing up in an NFL town.

Was there....was a good time. Pregame party in the quarter was fun as well. Different than tailgating but still a great time.

What's the pageantry?

What traditions?

How's the excitement any different?

I've been to Panthers games (every time I go it is vs. the Saints by coincidence) and college football games all around the SEC.

I'd say you see just as many trashy sloppy drunks in both venues. However, I've seen shadier figures at NFL games. Plus, NFL games are way more expensive.

I felt more comfortable and enjoyed the college experience more. I'd pick college every time if given the choice.

College is much better IMO, the atmosphere is fantastic.

Too many fights at NFL games, there are some fights at college games too, but they at least are between 18-25 year olds. Nothing more pathetic than seeing 40+ year old men brawling at an NFL game.

Yes. Not to mention NFL atmospheres are more commercialized, generally more expensive, and yet full of some of the trashiest people in America.

Yeah i went to a rams game in st. louis this year and had a blast.

I'll always have more invested in Aggie games than NFL, but it's funny to me when folks act like the crowds are so much different. The same pool of people are going to Saints and Texans games as are going to LSU and Aggie games

I've been to Bengals, Saints, Colts games.

Big college atmosphere wise- LSU, Tennessee, Michigan, OSU.

Personally, NFL atmosphere can't touch a big college game in terms of the whole experience from tailgating to after a big win

Been to few Texans games.

Tailgating sucks. It is in a parking lot and it is very hot most of the year. Has a markedly south of the border flavor, a lot of which look shady as hell. The area around Reliant is not great. Usually hang out in midtown before hitting the train down to the stadium.

the crowd is mixed really. Lower lever is mostly hard core season ticket holders, usually in their mid 40s/50s. Nothing remarkable about them.

Club section is mostly corporate guests/season ticket holders. Probably the most fun part of the stadium on game day.

Uppers is reserved for the poors who don't mind paying stupid money for shitty seats. Ghetto as hell too. Fights break out. Not worth your trouble.

Everything the Texans do is manufactured and generic.

To this day I have never paid for a Texans ticket. Just go as a guest. I spend my money on traveling to Bama games. I get more out of it. Hell every away game is like a history lesson, learning about the university and the history behind it.

Went to a Bears game once. Awesome time.

Saints/packers/Steelers/Seahawks all look like great times.

I sincerely think that a Packer game at Lambeau is different than the rest of the country. In my opinion it very closely resembles a college atmosphere. Big classic stadium with bleachers in a small town atmosphere, lots of history, very friendly but incredibly dedicated and loyal fans, fun tailgating scene. I've never talked to a visiting fan at Lambeau that didn't love the experience.

But I've also seen them play in San Diego, Tampa, Miami, and Chicago, and most of those did feel a bit more sterile and lacking in the camaraderie and pageantry of a big time college atmosphere.

So basically, I enjoy them both...though I do personally enjoy Packer games more than Badger games.

My understanding was that for SEC games you essentially have two distinct groups of fans. The more "proper southern" crowd who most likely went to the school, and the more "back country" crowd who most likely never set foot in a classroom after 10th grade who attach themselves. Is that assessment too harsh? It's how my buddy who went to the UW / Georgia bowl game a few years ago described it.

I've been to multiple NFL and college games at lots of venues. The only thing I enjoy more about NFL games than college is the speed, flow, and length of the games are a whole lot shorter. TV timeouts are faster, half times are shorter, and there arent as many commercial timeouts, leading to a much quicker game. The passion, pride, and atmosphere at college campuses is better. Also, the prices at NFL games, from parking to tickets to concessions, is more expensive. College athletics is going that way, but still isnt up to the pro price level. To each their own really, but I enjoy the passion of the college game, though I wish college games would be the length of pro ones.
