Hello all,
Seems to be another year of high oyster prices. Called Tonys and capital city crawfish and both are $48 a sack. Thats the small 32# sack we're talking about. 2 years ago they were like $26. Waiting on Reno's in Sorrento to start getting in their large sacks (90# I think.) Last year they were $65. Anyone know of a better purchase around Baton Rouge?

$5.95 a dozen on the half-shell all day Wednesdays and Saturdays at Kelly's Village Inn on Jefferson in River Ridge. And they were salty and tasty!

Sadly, it's something that we need to get used to. Only going to get worse.

You are all going to laugh at what I paid for a box of oysters in Birmingham.
$80 for Blue Points, about 10 dozen.
Something about some parasite or something in the gulf so they haven't been able to get Apalachicola or gulf oysters. They are typically $40 for a box.

LOL.....$60 for a 100lb sack at Collins in Golden Meadow. $35 for a half sack. Gallon schucked is $100 and 1/2 gallon is $60

They have shut down beds in Alabama and Appalachia Cola for 18 months due to the Vibrio virus in the Gulf is what I've heard.

Paid $90/gal shucked from a guy in Golden Meadow this week. Not short gallons, either...heavy ones.

I stopped by Reno's today and ordered a large sack for tomorrow. Was $65, and if they compare to last years oysters I got from there, definitely worth the drive from Baton Rouge. WIll report back.
