SportsNOLA article

The Advocate has a VERY similar article with just the press release.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a huge deal?

idk... the skeptic in me says the idiot principals are gonna do what they want regardless of the exec. director and push for the split to be in all sports; since the nonselect schools make a majority of the LHSAA, they can do this in January at the convention

the optimist believes that football can be brought back together under certain conditions and concessions to the nonselect schools

I know they really can't but it pisses me off when wafb only reports that someone is simply fired without putting the reason, and that's why tigerdroppings rules

That was the main reason right? People upset over select vs nonselect schools?

henderson had some conflict of interest issues in Shreveport with the Casino and the Top 28 fiasco from a few years ago.

It is mildly surprising that they "cut ties" with him on such short notice in the middle of the year. He was fired and I bet something is about to come out about him that will explain what happened

Local ESPN radio station said 'mutual decision', FWIW.

"Mutual Decision" is what the press release states. Henderson's contract was scheduled to end in June of 2015.
The Advocate article said that the board has three options when they meet in executive session like this: 1. Renew
2. Allow him to finish out the contract
3. Dismiss/cut ties.

The board, obviously, chose option 3. No other reason has been given, yet.

Only way to save the lhsaa and deal with the four big issues that are on the verge of tearing it apart...

ChoupiqueSushi,
I know you know stuff, what else can you bring out to explain some of this?

The rules as awhile need to be brought up into the 21 century for 1 especially in regard to eligibility.

Too many rules they cant or won't enforce and too many rules that can easily be circumvented by parents with I'll intentt...

One thing is to apply a curve to select schools enrollments bumping many of them up 1 class.

Recruiting either make it legal or enforce the rules - also make parents with ties to a school not just coaches abide by those rules...

Holdbacks is another point of animosity, actually has a much bigger impact than recuriting

Cases in point. 3 of the last 5 statewide MVPs were hold backs....one a double holdback

19 year olds vs 16 and 17 year olds is not what hs sports is about

Plus in public schools we the taxpayers pay the bill for holdbacks

All of the reasons other folks have mentioned led to this....

The Livonia and salmen eligibility cases didn't help

But his predecessor set him up to fail by going with the parochial interests of 5 principals and forcing JC and ECA to play in class more tha. A decade ago

One article I read said he asked for a contract renewal.

He should be fired over losing the Cajundome for the Top 28.

That's is one proposal I am against. Simply put, the smaller 1A private school simply can't compete with AA schools.
