I think it is amazing that most believe your hard-arse shtick here. Your wife breastfed for three weeks. Mine for about 8.

Have you guys ever seen your wife pumping milk? Hot.

she went ~6 months both times, dried up. would've gone around 12 months to transition, formula is expensive.

she had problems at first and went to a lactation specialist. I went with her and while they going over technique, her 3 y/o walked up, got in her lap and went under her shirt for a snack.

Mine went around 10-11 months and it eventually drove her crazy trying to keep up with the piglet.

So we used all the free formula we got and started switching to regular milk and my wife could start drinking wine again.

Some probably did if it was bad enough. At a minimum they were dealing with bad malnourishment and developmental problems if they couldn't digest milk well enough. My understanding is that it is the animal milk and other proteins that is in the mother's milk from what she eats that is the issue. So it is conceivable that the mother could eliminate all animal milk and other sources causing the issue, but that is easier said than done. It's not just dairy and cheese, it's in a lot of the foods we eat.

So my wife went to a breast feeding support group, just having issues getting started. Sitting in a circle of women, some with their babies, some with their toddlers. This 2 yr old is running around playing, then pops over to his mom, who lifts her shirt, kid takes a swig, and then goes back to playing.

Some people live in a different reality. We're going for at least a year, not sure after that.

Even in third world countries today they have nursing moms who feed several kids in the community if their own moms dry up.

No kid over 12-15 months should suck their moms tit. By then you have a full set of teeth and can speak. Whole milk is fine for health reason then too.

my second one is 13 months old and drinks whole milk, juice and eats real food. Why would a 2 year old still drink milk from a tit?

My wife went about 12months with each of our 3.

A friend of a friend was hanging out with us while the kids were playing one summer day and up runs her 3 year old from off the playground, completely interrupts our conversation with "Momma Breast!" and she barely missed a beat whipping that jug out and topping old boy off. I told her it was polite of him not to run up and ask for tits ;)
