If included in the Constitutional amendment to do away with it included very strict voter fraud regulations (i.e. showing a FREE ID)?

Those are separate issues.
Keep the EC.
Keep the EC.

nope. Electoral college makes it so where the big cities can't control everything.

What exactly is the advantage of an electoral college over a simple whoever gets the most votes wins?

Not really. Look at the map of Ohio of Colorado in the last 2 elections. Most of the state geographically red but the cities voted blue and the dems won.

Republicans would never win an election again, so you won't get much support on this board. I am fairly liberal and I don't think I could support it either.

Without the EC, New York, LA, and Chicago would decide every election. Most states wouldn't have an iota of power. Our population is highly disparate, not evenly distributed, yet we still have state sovereignty. Thats the way our country is set up. States matter. Removing the EC neuters the states in incredibly Unconstitutional, and frankly, un-American ways.

It keeps four or five states from dictating their outlook of government on the whole country.

I like it when conservatives look at the electoral map and go "so much of it is red!!!"
Well, yeah, but we're not electing people based on square footage.

It pretty much has.

I'm glad you got a nice chuckle from a hypothetical straw man in your head.

Some sort of certainty.
You want every close election to be like Florida 2000 - everywhere? Imagine 1960 or 2000 - with 100% precinct by precinct recounts, nationwide.
Because the mantra would be "every vote counts" - the Republican voter suppression machine against the Democrat voter fraud machine FTMFW.
No thanks.
