So many freakin' options. My beard is out of whack. Someone help me out. Much appreciated.

I'm eyeing this one:
Philips Norelco BeardTrimmer 3100

And this one (I like this one because of the nois hair trimmer attachment):
Philips Norelco Multigroom

ETA: I'd like to keep it under $40 if possible.

I just bought a $15 Wahl. I like it much more than the walmart special I had before.

Second the Wahl. Bought one at either Target or Walmart about 3-4 years ago and it has been great. Battery powered, has four different length attachments so you can sculpt the thickness that you want. It cost about $20.

This will trim actual beards and not just stubble, right? I'm not going for the 5 o'clock shadow look. Just want a well kept beard.

I have a wahl as well. My wife bought it for me last Christmas. Holds a decent charge. I can trim 3-4 times on one charge. And that includes shaping up my neck and trimming it all over. It takes me around 5-10 minutes to get it all trimmed. Mine has a dial on the front that puts the guard at a certain height. It doesn't have the measurements like 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 like my old ones. Just clicks 1-9. I keep mine trimmed about a 7 or 8 every other week.

I previously has a braun Cruzer that was good too. Something inside of it broke when i dropped it one day so that's why I needed a new one. It had two different guards. One for 1-10 mm and one for 10-20 mm. But you had to click it up or down to the length you wanted and sometimes If you pressed too hard it would shift out of that setting. The wahl doesn't move at all since the guard attaches to the trimmer and the dial moves on the trimmer to set the guard.

You can adjust from .04mm to I think 7mm... the .04 works well on your neck and you can also adjust to your preferred length on your face. It's legit.

Good call on the istubble. I've been using these things for years and have gone through a couple of dozen brands and models. The istubble works very well for me because I like to keep beard and hair on head clipped very short. Don't know how it would work if you want a longer cut.

I have had Wahls in the past and they are OK but my Phillips will hold a charge for over a month. This is the first Phillips I have bought and I really like it.

Irregardless of the make and model you decide on, don't dive straight into your beard with it. Experiment around with it in some places where a poor cut won't matter. I recommend starting out on the nut sack/taint area.

Truth.

Also, when I do transition to the beard trimming, I always start at a longer setting, and gradually move down until I see it is actually trimming some. I may make a few passes at one length, then dial it down another notch or two if that isn't how I like it.

Bookmarking this thread. I have grown mine out for the first time. I got it trimmed up at the barbar shop this morning and it looks great. It was pretty rough beforehand

Wahl "Peanut"

I tried several others before a friend recommended this one.

Durable. Easy to change blades. Great cut.
