I would stay in Texas.

It's too bad this country wasn't set up with lots of separate, loosely connected territories so that we could try different things in different places to see what worked best and allow as much local control as possible so that people would be less likely to have to live with things they fundamentally disagreed with.

They're not being eliminated, just put out of a job and possibly moved from working poor to straight up leach

no they are literally being eliminated by tech

well they should have better skills or move to a country where their skill level can earn them a wage
Completely circumstantial.
For instance, if the North went full socialism and even some fascism infringing on my religious rights (HSTN Mayor demanding sermons be turned over to her, etc.) then I'd probably fight for the south or whatever state was seceding.
If it's just some tard state complaining about that durn Odummy, then no, I'd not be a traitor.

yeah i was going to make this point earlier but got a phone call. 100% right. this thread just shows why a monolithic fedgov is terrible
we'd never have to have these crazy discussions about secession or have such an emotional political divide
especially in the age of information
funny enough, norcal is starting to figure this out and support this

I agree, but you think that, in this case, the USA is just gonna let anyone into the country? Where would they go?

We need to bring the "league of friendship" back.

If the south declared prima noctae on ten year old boys the night of their birthdays I guess I'd stay with the USA.

No. We're talking about people whose jobs are being eliminated. Doesn't matter the country. In my example, I used the new CSA as the location. SO someone gets put out of a job by technology in the CSA. There is no welfare of any kind. For one reason or another they can't get another job or at least not fast enough to pay the bills. You really think politicians in the CSA won't be wanting these peoples' votes by promoting welfare and/or going against any kind of tech/innovation that could put people out of jobs? Politicians will frick it up just like they have everything else.

How many people who would be initially for secession would change their mind if Apple products were not going to be available in CSA?

in my ideal society, it would not be possible b/c wealth redistribution programs would be unconstitutional
just like it was unconstitutional until the cased that changed the US forever: Wickard v. Filburn.
i'm talking federal, obviously. if a state/locality wanted to offer it, they would be free to do so. they'd have to fund it all, though
