A huge percentage of people in the deep south are worthless as frick. I don't think a new CSA could deal with all of them.

again

if the "South" implemented limited government with no social welfare, they'd all emigrate to the "USA"

double-win for the "South"

And besides, two posters already mentioned "parasites" getting "exterminated" by the small libertarian gov't of the new CSA. Jeez. This is already sounding a lot like Nazi Germany.

i just want them to emigrate to the "USA"

solves all the problems

I think that a modern CSA plus most of the red states that would break away and join would be much better of economically the remaining USA consisting of the left coast and northeast and sporadic blue states.
I'd rather see a breakup by counties. The north would get to keep all their big cities: NY, Chi, Det, etc... North would get SF and LA, South the rest of Cali

Big cities in the south could have some of their populations relocated to the north

I'd probably fight for the north if the south tried to do something to stupid.

What exactly would they have to do to stupid? Is stupid totally innocent in this or was there provocation for them to do something to him?

Yea, because everybody on welfare doesn't have a job.

stop. you intentionally twisted my words. stop going through life being ignorant.
nobody said it was completely based on slavery.

But hot headed southern politicians in 1860-61 chose secession, as a result of Lincoln's election, in lieu of negotiation so they could preserve slavery.

the CSA forged a constitution almost word for word as ours, except it had a provision to allow for the right to own slaves.

So, who's gonna work the menial jobs that don't (and shouldn't) pay a liveable wage? Is this small gov't bastion of fiscal conservatism gonna pay everyone a liveable wage?

immigrants

and the "liveable" wage would be much less because the governmental policies wouldn't warp the prices of housing, food, etc

nope. why would the government be paying wages for private parties?

I would align with whomever didnt want to take my guns, believed in small government and would abolish welfare and food stamps. If it's some a-hole trying to promote tyranny then I'll remain loyal to no one.

Some people seem to have this idea of a nation where everyone is upper middle class and just like them. No "low lifes". That's really not possible.

that's what immigrants are for

their next generation will be a higher class and the new generation of immigrants wanting a better opportunity for their family will step up

you can have immigration or a welfare system. it gets broken when you have both. i prefer immigration and no welfare

It depends on the situation, but it's highly unlikely that I'd support the USA in any kind of military action against its own people.

This guy gets it.
The question to ask yourself is would you support the President sending in troops to forcefully reclaim a state that took a popular vote to peacefully secede from the union.
I don't think there would be much public support to get a bunch of Oregonians, for example, killed so that Oregon would stay in the union.

I wonder if the small-government CSA would keep farm subsidies.

They're not being eliminated, just put out of a job and possibly moved from working poor to straight up leach.
