A group of my friends and I have a group text that has been going on for a while. Recently one of the members switched from an iPhone to a Galaxy S4. We had to switch to regular texts instead of iMessages, but it continued to work. (with the exception of a random text from the Samsung directly to each member instead of the group). Yesterday, I stopped receiving all messages from that group. They receive messages I send, but I don't get any of theirs. Anybody else had this problem and know of a fix?

What a clusterfrick. You would think that as popular and as highly valued text services have become over the past few years, the networks would have incentive to improve upon the SMS standard, but I guess not. The best thing to do is convince the group to use a specific group text app. We use GroupMe, but there are many others out there that work well.

I had a few problems with group texts with my iPhone 6, mostly in 8.0.

Mine were their messages came through in another group (when one had a Galaxy, now iPhone) vs the all iMessage group. But my responses would only go through the other group.

Only fix for me was to delete both group conversations. It worked.

Not sure for you since you're not getting the texts at all. Do they come through all at once later? Had another friend with iPhone/Samsung group text and that happened.

I started another group with just the iphones and it worked fine.

I just started to get messages in the old group again, but it didn't send me a backlog of all the missed ones. I read all the missed ones on my friend's phone and they were receiving and responding to all my messages. Another member of the group gets them all in bulk every couple of hours. I'm gonna suggest we download an app to message to avoid this headache.
