Is it gonna be bad in the morning no matter what I do?

Leaving in about an hour and a half. Should I just wait a little longer or will I probably be able to avoid the worst of it?

If you're leaving Bay City right now you'll be in good shape. A lot of stuff will clear out before you get to the normal backups. All kinds of shortcuts that would be cheaper but if you're not too familiar with the area I'd stick to the 35>288>Beltway 8>I-10 route.

Yes that section of the beltway still has toll booths to pay with cash.

That area of the beltway is no problem. If he was going on the Northeast part of it past I-10 he would have an issue. Not if he's headed east at the I-10 exit. If no EZ Tag it will cost him about $5.50 in tolls (3 different plazas $1.75, $1.75, $2.00).

Lived in bay city for two years.
Take beltway to 225 then hit 146 and you'll meet up with i10 in Baytown. Do this in rush hour only.

If there's no rush he traffic, easier to just hit 10 in houston.
