Doing a lil public land hunting this evening.
Got settled in at about 3:20, at 3:50 two spikes came by at 37 yards. That's a good sign. Hopefully they'll either come back in range or another deer will come by about 15 yards closer.
First deer I've seen all year.

Saw a doe and group of hogs but they stayed about 60 yds out in bottom. Buddy stuck a nice buck. Let it lay for an hour and then We tracked it for a while until the dog jumped it. Backed out and will look again in am.

You are right. ER doc that worked night before and drove straight in to hunt that am. Hunted hard all day and got this shot. He is a seasoned bow hunter and was sick when the deer jumped. Wanted to go back out at midnight but we encouraged him to rest and let the deer lay. Short morning hunt then they are reeking my dog out. I am working today then back up tonight for am hunt.

I'm 100% packed for my weekend camp trip as of 5:35am. My morning consists of dropping Junior off at the sitter around 7:30, then making a run to NELA in record time to be on a stand by noon. I'm giddier than a 6 year old on Christmas Eve.
