Ball control and no turnovers will be necessary. To hear some pundits, Ole Miss has virtually no weaknesses. I say throw some fades to Dupree and Dural. And let's challenge the Rebs corners a bit.

Ole Miss has better coach, quarterback, receivers, defense, punter, cheerleaders and uniforms.
LSU has edge with runningbacks, offensive line, and live animal mascot/

Ole Miss is kind of undersized along the D-Line. Yes, their run d stats are impressive, but look at what Bama did to them (168 yards) and LSU has a very similar running game to Alabama.

They are athletic, quick and strong, all of which can be said about LSU's offensive line, BUT LSU's offensive line is athletic, quick and strong AND bigger.

I'm not predicting it, but for LSU to have success it will have to start on the ground and it isn't that far fetched.

I think the game plan this year will be opposite of last year. i think if les had ran jeremy hill more against ole miss and less deep throws by mett, LSU wins that game by 2 TD's.

ole miss has short corners (5'9) and LSU has taller receivers. that is a mis match for sure.

I know everyone has railed on jennings, including myself, but I could see him coming out on saturday night and doing well. including throwing a long bomb against ole misses secondary that shocks everyone early.

feels like a sumlin post from last year. i can only imagine how happy the negatigers would be if Miles had called a timeout in a situation like this, where bama was completely lost and out of position, with one CB between 3 WRs and the endzone, and the ball in his QBs hands with 2 seconds left on the play clock

ole miss threw 41 times last year against LSU. if they throw that many times this year, i'm expecting some picks. wallace had zero int's last year and mett had 3.

28 first downs against the defense and 525 total yards.

the offense didn't score a single point in the first half. that cannot happen this game. LSU needs to take some shots early.

We have a couple of weaknesses in the kicking game: a true freshman (Pack) who makes shaky decisions about when to fair catch punts (he caught one last week on our own 5), and our FG unit is not exactly a model of reliability.

Our main weakness is an O-line that is still a work in progress. Our starting center is injured and questionable for this game. Our guards are not steamrollers. Tunsil at LT is much better in pass pro than on running plays; RT is improving but not great.

On D we really don't have any weaknesses. Linebackers are a little undersized but hit hard and almost always are in the right position. Pass coverage schemes are pretty sophisticated and once in awhile someone will miss an assignment but that's rare. We often give a lot of cushion on passing downs, so teams can get a few passing yards here and there.

This ought to be a great game where the big guys line up and see who wants it more.

Field position I agree with, but causing turnover are probably more important than not turning it over. For LSU to win, I think they either need some sort of special teams game changer or a turnover with an extremely short field or score.

The chances of LSU going on three or more sustained drives of 60+ yards is pretty slim. Whether LSU turns it over or punts isn't that much of a difference depending on where the turnover is.

Really - they're the anti-LSU - they can pass well (if good Bo shows up, which he has, mostly, this season), perhaps a bit better than well, and they can run if they have to, but are not great about it.

Their defense is very very good

I'm not sure their defense isn't the best in the conference right now. People are talking about them being a complete team - that may be true, but they rely on defense and their QB to make plays.

makes a living off of turnovers

Yeah - I'd like to see how they react to a good 4 quarters of pounding and staying on the field.

If we can run it against them on first down, I think we can at least keep it close through 3 - if it's close at the end of the 3rd quarter, I think we win a close one.

If they get up 2 or 3 scores in the first (we have a defensive set back or just give up a couple of big plays) and force us to abandon the run? It could get ugly, quickly.

It's not just your LBs

280, 277, 281, 237 lbs across the d-line (268.5 avg)

LSU's O-line across the front is 324, 342, 300, 301, 301 (313 avg)

LSU outweighs Ole Miss up front by an avg of 45lbs per man. Yes, the d-line is athletic, strong and quick but so is LSUs O-Line, but they are bigger. The last time Ole Miss matched up against an O-Line this big and physical was Bama and they had success on the ground.

LSUs know they run the ball and have to run the ball to win. Just like the size up front is an issue for LSU, it is also an issue for Ole Miss

Their offensive line is just average. They lost 4 of their 5 linemen from last year and had significant injuries in the fall. Bro Wallace was sacked five times by the Vols.

This game will come down to whether our defense folds completely in the first quarter/first half the way they did against Auburn and MSU. Our offense is not built to deal with a 21 point deficit in the first quarter.
Our offense is capable of making clutch plays and hanging in there if the game is still close in the fourth quarter. They've shown that much.

I have a feeling we pull this out. Cautiously optimistic (I don't want to be hurt again)

Good point, but it wasn't really all that much success. They gained 160 something on the ground and 220 or so in the air, but their offense put up only 10 points. Like I alluded to earlier, we give up some yards, but not in bunches. Sustained drives against this D are very difficult because we don't give up big plays.

Our weakness is on O, not D. If you can shut it down and win field position, it might get interesting.

BTW, you also are correct about us being undersized along the D-line, but they are a nasty bunch. Quick, physical, and very deep. Please don't goad me into finding clips of 250-pound nose tackle Issac Gross making havoc on Mett last year. I came here in peace.

OM is good, but not as good as their ranking would lead you to believe....LSU and OleMiss are very closely-matched teams this particular weekend. It really would not be a very big upset if LSU wins (ranking-wise yes, but team-wise no)...this is pretty-much a toss-up game IMO.

All very true. They have looked good against some poor teams, and then snuck out with a victory over Bama at home...but Bama has played poorly on the road.

Now, Ole Miss fans will tell you their team is MUCH better, best defense in the nation, much better offense than LSU...etc.....but that is perfect, it is setting up a great melt....the arrogance, the karma, is going to get ole miss...and get them bad.

On a different note, I'm thinking it could get ugly outside of Tiger Stadium (or inside) no matter who wins this game.

Alabama also only scored 14 on the road against Arkansas....might get interesting? Jesus Christ...arrogance at its finest.....the spread is 3...and that is out of respect for a top 5 undefeated team. The truth is that Ole Miss has played a bunch of poor teams that they SHOULD have beaten and did...congrats...they have played one team equivalent to LSU, and that is Alabama, at home...and they escaped. Now, they are going to be in a very hostile environment.

Listen, I know you guys have never been in this situation....but you guys are handling it very poorly, and you are setting yourselves up for a glorious melt.....your toughest games are ahead of you....but you guys don't get that.
