That's not New Orleans though. If you life in the city and it's not Mardi Gras, you can get anywhere in 15 minutes via car except maybe Riverbend to the Bywater. And the point was that if you live in the city, you have everything you need within walking distance anyway so traffic is a nonissue a lot of the time.

Expect and results are different.

Of course, I know that your response will be that I don't the right routes. Typical BR response to traffic.

Same turn of the coin $500k gets you in 4,000 sq feet in Algiers.
Just parts of uptown have this boom. I wouldn't want many of these old uptown houses. I am in them all the time and most need extensive renovations.

I hate Kitchesn that have a $1000 dishwasher then a $300 fridge and a $275 stove.

The pictures make the place look small. I understand the need for perhaps an investment opportunity....but I couldn't live in those close quarters long term.

There's actually a few houses uptown in the 500k range that are nice and don't really need renovation. A quick look on realtor.com will prove that. Problem is that they sell within a day or two of being on the market.

I was just pointing out the absurdity of this boom and how some people are trying to cash in with the original post.

I do this all the time. It's easy to do when you are surrounded by culture.

I'm wondering when the fricking hipsters will start leaving town. NOLA has gone mainstream. I've also noticed that meeting people who were born and raised here is starting to become a rare event. Interested to see how new New Orleans plays out over the next decade. I personally love it here right now and am so happy I decided to move back after the storm and be part of what is going on.

but it's all relative i guess

lol at the DC and SF people finding this cheap.
DC shocked me how expensive it is to live there. Great walking city though.

Look at what they're listing for vs what they're selling for. They're going way over asking. Houses with no parking are going for over asking. It's nuts. I looked for two years before I gave up and bought in Mid City.

I offered asking on the last one I made an offer on. It was the lowest by 20k. That's when I screw it.

yep. I'm staying my arse in Kenner, with our good roads, low crime and low taxes.
I can FB the mayor and get answers right away. My councilman is a customer of mine. It's nice.
But a huge part of me longs for Walnut street. I have wanted a house near the park for the longest. One day I will live uptown.

It's crazy. My mother is in real estate and she just sold a house to one of the JF headliners from this year. They paid 200k more than the asking price, cash money. Didn't care about what was wrong or needed to be repaired with the house. They just wanted to be in the neighborhood.

damn, great time to be a Realtor.
The guy who was the star in the new Planent of the apes and the new Terminator got a house on Perrier and it wasn't even for sale. He was in Audubon park and knocked on the door. Made and offer and bought in.

It really sucks what happened to kennerbrah in the last 10 years. If they would have never made Vintage cut through the back of Chateau Estates to access Williams that neighborhood could have been to kennerbrah what Old Metairie is to Metairie.

Vintage has always cut through Chateau at that point. They killed Chateau years ago with allowing Vouray and the ghetto to be there. Something about balancing the school district in the 80's. But most don't know in lilly white Chateau there is a ghetto.

The "old metaire" of Kenner would be Woodlake and woodlake estates. Very nice houses, buffered by upper middle class and gated communities. Very very nice.
Just not "old"
Driftwood is nice. But I'm holding down UVC,

This x1000. What's this city coming to when you take the count out of the country club? I don't remember the last time I met someone new who was from anywhere near here. But AirBnB isn't doing the neighborhoods any favors. And that's coming from someone who has a studio apartment that will probably be on there soon.

You are wrong my friend. That bridge over the canal wasn't always there. Those house were in a very secluded area at one time. You had to have a reason to be back there and you could tell who didn't belong. Once they built the 1st bridge it was all over.

To totally derail this thread, what do you work on the least? The next time I'm at my mom's I may hit you up with an error code on an oven to see if you can tell me how to make the damn thing quit beeping.
