Honestly, $200 sq ft is not that bad for that house. It'll sell for around $475-$450k.

Scruffy's house is twice as big, has a yard, a garage, no traffic, people won't rape/murder him when he walks outside, and cost 1/3 of that.

the bubble is so big right now in NOLA it sucks. the only way you can capitalize on it is if you sell your house and then move away or reappraise your house to get your mortgage % down and remove PMI. Not very many deals anymore and even the questionable neighborhoods are going for big dollar. Only matters now if you sell high and buy elsewhere low. Don't get caught like they did elsewhere and refinance your house at the high value to buy other properties then have the bubble burst and be stuck with 500k in property value and 1 mil in loans.
The New Orleans bubbly burst is going to be really bad. I have visions of driving through Lakeview with 50 foreclosure signs

That is obviously in the nicest area in NO based on the recent sales in that listing so its not too crazy. You are buying the land.

So, some exaggeration in that previous post.

It is bigger and did cost a little over 1/3 of that.

And he won't get raped or murdered when he walks outside.

And the traffic doesn't blow donkeys.

you all realize that this boom in property values is as a result of 7th ward leaving town right?

and why are you worried about how much it cost to live here? no one is beggin you to move here. I live here and love it. I've never been a victim of crime in the 6 years I've been back, nor have any of my friends. I know a friend of a friend who has his boat stolen, but I also know many people outside of NOLA who thats happened to. Why do you care so much about posting what properties cost?

It's a double. Put 20% down, rent one side. Total mortgage is probably around 2 grand. Rent would be probably $1200. $800 left of the mortgage for you to pay (plus probably $500 or so for insurance and taxes). It's not that outrageous.

Yes, they have lots going for that. Insane to me! I love Lakeview and me and my wife want to live there one day but I dont think those prices are sustainable. I think alot of people are getting in over their heads right now
