I have no doubt that it will be good. I have no doubt that it will be better than MoS.
As awesome as it looks, neither of these are certain. But I love the optimism.
quote:
I also have no doubt that it will be darker than anything we've seen from Marvel.
But see, this is when reducing MoS arguments gets in the way of real discussion. And the DC defenders are often guilty of that very point. It's not the MoS was dark at all. If it was dark for a purpose, then it would work, see Dark Knight, everyone loved that. The problem with MoS is that it didn't earn the tone it portrayed. The darkness that it displayed, the anger and depression of Kal-El, wasn't communicated well and it wasn't really developed. It was dark just to be dark. To me, it just tried to emulate the tone of TDK without actually having a reason to be that dark. It felt, and these aren't my words, it felt like it was ashamed of its origins. That it hated the fact that Superman was generally good, happy, morally centered.
That's the issue.
If AoU can earn it's darkness, can thrive in it and not make it seem forced, then it's better for it, and better than MoS. If it's the same "dark and realistic just to be dark and realistic," for no other purpose, I'd call it out immediately.

But Superman is iconic
More proof that nothing will please some fans.
I would say that some fans want less creative and more comfortable products. Essentially a remake of the 70s Superman is what they wanted because they grew up with that and wanted to share it with their children

The criticism of violence directed at the MOS film is entirely predictable,
Just developing with the times.
I'm not sure what this means but I'd say any Superman product with more than PG themes will receive negative reviews from many members of the traditionalist Superman crowd.
It frankly sounds like I liked the MOS effort more than you did

Man I cannot WAIT for this. I can't imagine how much this will make at the Box Office.

Pretty good trailer for both sides. Gets us pumped without them revealing much of anything

Ultron looks exceptionally well done. The voice is creepy. Also, whoever picked the music for that trailer deserves a raise. fricking Pinocchio music was unsettling.
This. I like the fact that he looks to have facial expressions. It just looks weird and awesome.

I hate trailers like this. Makes the movie look damn good and I realize its freaking 6 months away.

I couldn't help but think about MOS while watching this. The things posters complained about (dark, serious, destruction) appear to be on display here as well.
But it's the second film in a trilogy (for lack of a better word). It should be the darkest film in the entire franchise. Plus it doesn't seem as if they're beating around the bush that Iron Man is largely responsible for all this, while they completely did that in Man of Steel.

Fantastic trailer!! As others have said, the creepy use of "Got No Strings.." is absolutely brilliant.
Why is half the thread talking about Man of Steel?

There have been a lot more rumors that Panther will show up and may very well be more then just a cameo.

From the Marvel Wiki:
quote:
Ulysses Klaw was an assassin hired to take down T'Chaka at the Bilderberg conference in the case that he refused to negotiate Wakanda's ressources including Vibranium.
