I think there's going to be less "Civil War," and more "Battle of Ideals between Stark and Rogers." Civil War is just the best example of that. But it's motivations were about a HUGE population of heroes and how that affected the universe as a whole. And Spider-Man's reveal was integral to that whole story, we don't have a Spider-Man to make that point.

They'll take the key ideas, Stark vs. Cap, What are "heroes?" What's fair with government involvement in the protection of citizens by using citizens? Etc. and transplant that into this universe. If they do "Civil War" it's going to be stripped down significantly.
I know they can't do it exactly like Civil War. They will probably call it Civil War, though. Wolverine was also a huge part of the Age of Ultron story.

So does DC/WB respond by releasing the BvS Teaser from Comicon?

Naaaaa, they still have the press from the full slate announcement.

When Marvel finally gives us the slate of films we might see a teaser then.

Plus BvS is almost two years away, even if they have a teaser, they have time to find a strong Marvel moment to budge in on.

There's a time and place for all types of film. If you really like film, it's best to just roll with it. If every film were an indie downer dramedy, we'd get bored. Even if every film represented the best comedy had to offer, we'd still get bored.

I'm one of the biggest 80-90s action film fan, and I'm glad we've seen a recent revival with Taken, Reacher, and now Wick. But still, even if every film were an awesome, macho action movie, we'd still get bored.

And shoot me now if every film that came out was based on a historical tragedy.

Variety, the spice of life.

I'm ambivalent about your indifference to my happiness in regards to his sadness.

Just noticed in this gif that Iron Man is "summoning" the Hulkbuster armor!

I agree to a certain extent, but we've already been rolling with this comic book movie theme for several years. And by the looks of things, we'll have no choice but to roll with it for the next several years. At this point, there's no end in sight.

If that's the case, why are 7 out of 10 new movies a prequel/sequel/reboot?

I'm thinking you probably know the answer but pirating and the rapid decline of dvd sales has studio's only spending on sure things.

Winners: Comicbook fan's(that's me!)

Losers: Patrick Bateman apparently

We've been on a comedy kick for 90 years or so...?

We've been on a crime thriller kick for 70-ish years?

Tough to hold that only against comic book movies.

In terms of comic movies:

Marvel and DC are different types of movies, regardless of origins. The Dark Knight has more in common with Heat than Superman The Movie. Marvel has had a straight science fiction film, a 1970s style spy-thriller, and a pseudo fantasy film.

I can't speak to the reboots, variety can mean "different" takes on the same material.

I just want to know when this "talkies" kick is going to run its course.

I think the issue is that the comic book film, as the new form of the blockbuster, just gets an inflated amount of press. We've had just as many "Teen Fiction" Films in recent years as we have comic films:

9 Harry Potter Films
3 (and will be 4) Hunger Games Films
Divergent
Ender
Giver
4 Twilights
3 NEW Harry Potter Movies Upcoming
Etc.

But these movies also get a lot of press.

There are plenty of great films just around the corner: Foxcatcher, Whiplash, etc. Those will never get the press of an Avengers 2, but they still get made.

Arguably, they get made because of the bank these blockbusters bring to these studios.
