Yeah I don't mean to be all negative on white people. Just about all my clients are white, I like white people. My best friend is white.

Nor am I really miserable. I like me and I like my life. But it took me quite a while to come to terms with who I am and just say frick everyone who doesn't like me for me, family included.

Just saying I can relate. This isn't "oh they are talking about how he is fake" or anything like that. They are basically calling him an uncle tom.

Well I am sorry I cannot relate.

I have only seen the traits you mentioned in the most ignorant black people and who really gives a freak what they think.

I just hope you don't fool yourself into believing that black men are welcomed up west or north as saviors. It Is pretty much the same every where, trust me.

It's up to us to make the most of our life's. if you truly have no friends and all the black women you date don't think you are down enough then maybe you need to take a look in the mirror and reflect on yourself. Are you sabotaging yourself? Who are you associating with?

When I lived in BR the majority of my friends were black, now the majority of my friends are white. Why do I maintain a certain ratio?

I just don't think being educated and black is some disease.

Also if you read the article, it reads like a gossip piece, no named sources, and he says in his opinion a lot.

While I can relate to most of your sentiments, you really just have to get comfortable with who you are. Someone will appreciate it.

Tirico is an only child. Because of his dark skin and ethnic features, Tirico says, most people assume he is black. But he’s seen pictures of his father, his father’s mother and his father’s sister – all of whom are white, Tirico says. ”The only contact I had growing up was with my mom’s side of the family. And they are all as white as the refrigerator I’m standing in front of right now,” Tirico says, standing in his kitchen in the Clay townhouse where he lives. Someday, he says, he plans to do genealogical research to find out if he has a black ancestor, but it’s not something he considers a pressing issue. Tirico concedes, though, that his uncertain ethnicity sometimes makes other uncomfortable. Even skeptical. ”I know the story sounds like a lot of bull, but it’s the truth” he says. “Does it matter to me? Yeah, I’d like to find out the truth at some point, so I can answer questions for my kids. But me? I’m living, I’m working, I’m leading an upstanding life. I don’t worry about it.”

This has been known to happen but I don't know Mike Tirico's story. Sandra Laing

Had no idea about Tirico. That's something else.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to cosign everything vengeanceofrain said. Apparently he and I are cut from the same cloth

Uhh, highly doubtful.

Yeah, I'm not on that page either. Racism today isn't stuff like you get lynched for talking to a white woman, it is more like you get pulled over for not having your seat-belt, stared at while you are eating lunch in Cracker Barrel, or profiled as an affirmative action product instead of treated like just another person (as you would be if you were white)

In places other than TD I tend to associate with people who understand these things are real but around here there's an interesting perception that people are somehow color blind with respect to black people (while those same posters simultaneously make a decent number of assumptions about most random black celebrities or random people who pop up as discussion points on the OT etc).

I'm that guy IRL. I'm black, but not "black". I know exactly what they are talking about.

Meh. I experienced much of the same but that was only through high school. I think it's a maturity issue more than anything else. There are "black" people who I'd say are my friends and while I'm sure they think I'm weird or not "black enough" it's never an issue because I'm secure and confident about who I am.

As far as black women go it's definitely an age thing. 30+ single black women love me; I pretty much have to beat them away with a stick.

CB is one of my family's favorite restaurants

Can't ever recall feeling like I was being stared at while eating at one, though.

That's more so about socioeconomics than race
The vast majority of people mistake race or black vs white with the real issue, which is exactly what you said.

You don't grow up with the propensity to become all of the black stereotypes because your skin color is black, you do so because of the reasons you specifically pointed out.

Those players should be out of the league.
It's no different than one Sterling did with the Clippers.

That is if they actually exist or actually said what they said. Once again, no named sources and he said in his opinion he thought that what was happening.

I'm sorry man, but I have a hard time believing that half of the Seattle team does not like Russell because he acts "white," whatever that means. If this was the case, how can they play under a white quarterback then? I'm sure they all did at some point. Hell Harvin played under Tebow with no known issues. Peyton Manning is pretty fricking goofy, but I guarantee you nobody is going to give him any shite.

Funny how all this stuff starts coming out when they start to lose. Winning cures all. If they knock out 2 wins in a row, I promise you they will all be sitting on the side line hugging each other.

Yeah and that's probably why he won a Super Bowl.
