I heard there is a house across from Spanish Oaks Elm in Geismar that is off the grid of water and power.

It is some doctor and he has a large enough solar panel and battery back up to never have to worry about losing power. Plus, he is on well water.

Anyone here like this?

You see the problem with your avatar is that I don't ever read what you write.

It is my dream; to live in the mountains off grid. But to do it in the burbs, or have all modern updates, you have to be rich. The maintaince on your solar panals, water and heating source is expensive.

I've thought about and researched it a lot. It takes a lot of resources initially and basically boils down to how primitive do you want to live?

As solar and battery technology gets better and better the more realistic it'll become without living like a Neanderthal.

There is very little maintenance for solar panels. You can clean them every so often and that's about it.

True, but the initial cost can be expensive, and more if you want battery storage. So you are looking at replacing every ~15 years. And that's what I meant by "maintaince." You have to have cash to go fully off the grid, if you want a home with modern upgrades.

I would love to

My parents are close. They have a well on their property, a huge garden, and hunt and fish enough that they barely have to buy groceries.

My dad would like solar panels, but they live in the middle of the woods, and he likes all the trees too much to cut them down for solar panels.
