people can practically return anything with no questions asked...

my dirtbag friend returned his broken ipod that was 2 years old and sent him another one two days later when they haven't even received the broken one.. and i hear stories about this everyday

big props to companies like Amazon/Cabela's/etc. that have adopted the,"customer satisfaction guaranteed", attitude because it builds unreal customer loyalty..

but here is my question, when does the bubble burst and Amazon realizes that Prime is not going to be able to support the customer satisfaction guarantee moto and start refuse broken/customer busted electronic devices?

and how many of you tech board dirtbags have returned broken electronics to receive brand new ones?

I called a few months back about my kids kindle fire..The rep told me it was out of warranty and there was nothing they could do...I said thanks, I would just look into other brands..

I received a new to me fire two days later...

Amazon is looking at this in the long term. I can see a future where literally everything you buy, or at least 90% of what you buy goes through Amazon. Everything you can get at Walmart, Target, Lowes, Home Depot, Best Buy, etc you can get at Amazon. All of these "ecosystems" people talk about in terms of apps and content today, Google, Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, might be the consumer goods "ecosystems" of tomorrow. Getting someone to be a lifetime customer for 90% of their purchases is probably worth a few free ipods.

They'll get gradually tighter about it. Once upon a time you could return just about anything to Walmart too but they've gotten a little stricter.

In the darker parts of the Internet, there is a group who does nothing but make stealth amazon accounts over and over and exploit amazon's customer service to get free shite. The loss due to those people is a drop in the bucket, but it certainly will contribute to eventually tightening the policies on who gets the star treatment.
