It's the most absurd premise.
This idea of a massive grudge over a Valley Karate competition for kids.
But can't complain about Karate Kid 3 when there is Karate Kid 4.
Miyagi complains that Daniel hits like a girl in Part 1 and then trains Hilary Swank.
Maybe she hits harder and he's no longer a misogynist?

Cobra Kai dojos is a brand I would still invest in today.
The rich guy had way too much time on his hands. Breaking up the relationship of a 18 year old wimp and his 85 year old karate instructor. It was the 80's though.

He was honor bound to his Vietnam buddy. They couldn't let Daniel and Mr. Miyagi get away with winning a regional 18 and under karate tournament. You just can't let some things slide.

And Miyagi never actually taught him the Crane kick...he just watched Miyagi doing it.
The original script called for a kick on one leg - using only that leg - but no martial arts stuntman could do it. So they created this stupid thing and allowed Daniel to win with a kick to the face despite the fact whenever Daniel was hit in the face...no points were given to his opponents and they were given warnings for illegal contact.
