I mean, if your son is an Ironman and you want to support for that I guess that can fly, but seriously...it would be like not even owning a boat boat or having a fishing pole but having this on your back window

I don't think they require proof of completing the run to get the sticker.

although if I ever complete the Leadville 100, you better believe I'll put one of these on my truck because I would want everyone to know how much of a badass I was

Completing is not an accomplishment.

I haven't run in 3 years and I could do a half today without even training. Probably a marathon too.

The key is that they give you all day to do it.

If someone has a Boston Marathon sticker where you have to have a serious time to qualify that is something different.

And a marathon is nothing compared to an Ironman.

I think it means someone just loves to run. Nothing more or less. You are reading too much in it.

FWIW, the two "easiest" marathons I ever "ran" were at the end of my Ironman. I'm using ran loosely because they were 4:20 and 4:30

26.2 Stickers
I figure it's roughly 3:1 douche bag to impressive athlete ratio, but since there's no way to be sure, I try not to jump to conclusions.

Ya, let me rephrase.

Completing is not a huge accomplishment. If I did a marathon I'd put the sticker on my fridge with my tennis division winner stickers.

My sister in law finished a marathon and she's basically a spaz.

Edit: If someone has a sticker on their car I don't look down on it/them at all. Like some, I think it identifies them with the running community which is cool.

and I disagree

while almost anyone could probably complete a marathon, it is still an accomplishment that they committed themselves to completing

committing yourself to propel yourself forward for 26.2 miles is an accomplishment

Thats awesome if true.

See, this thread is why I put that in my thread the other day. I knew it would get the OT response.

I mean, we hate on people for being not slim, but them we hate on people for doing an activity to make them not slim that a good portion of the population cant and being proud of it?

Welcome to the OT.

Agreed.

I don't care what you could do. Most fat people can be skinny and be in good health, but they chose not to because it's too much work. Should they have stickers for your car that say, "Look at me, I don't have Type II diabetes"?

No, of course not. But it doesn't mean that living a healthy lifestyle isn't an accomplishment in today's society.
