Still haven't seen any of the Saw movies either.
Saw had about as much gore as I care for in a movie and I imagine it's still mild at best within the genre. Cabin in the Woods isn't even the same ball park as Saw. Only the biggest of wussies would be bothered by Cabin in the Woods.

Wait a minute...there's people who don't like Shaun of the Dead?

They said they couldn't get into Shaun of the Dead . Also they kept talking about how Oblivion (the Tom Cruise movie) blew their minds.

I just want to state for the record. It's my wife's best friend and her fiance. I'm friends by association.

Fantastic movie until the last five minutes. So absolutely disappointing.

And yes I get the point they were trying to get across. But just having a big hand destroy everything was such a cop out and just not very well done for such a good movie beforehand.

The last five minutes is kind of the point.

Fantastic movie. I was pumped about this one when it came out...I didn't know much about it, only that it was gonna be something "different." And I was not disappointed.

I didn't watch it until last year on Netflix.

Sounds like your friends are shallow intellectually.

I've seen plenty of horror and satire over the years, and I failed to see what makes this movie such a masterpiece.

The screenwriters showed their hand too earlier and failed to prolong the suspense and uncertainty which could have ultimately been achieved. The premise itself is pretty innovative but the execution is insufficient for my taste.

It also felt very cheesy towards the end, and not in a good way.

Then again, I don't feel the need to suck Joss Whedon's dick like most of his fan boys do on a regular basis.

He honestly seems like a cool guy (my SO is obsessed with him and has told me every profound thing he has ever done), but I'm just not a fan of the genre of film and television that he works with.
