I know he still has a ways to go, but I'm really pulling for the guy. Regardless of where he does it, hopefully he can come back from the the two knee injuries in college and have a great NFL career similar to Frank Gore.

quote:

When the 49ers return from the bye week, Lattimore will be cleared to practice from the non-football injury list, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh told Lattimore and the media two weeks ago.

After a 21-day practice window closes, the 49ers plan to activate Lattimore to the 53-man roster for the first time in his NFL career.
Harbaugh dismissed the players on Monday for the bye week. Most of the team traveled back to their homes before returning for the final nine weeks of the regular season. Lattimore, however, is going nowhere, he said.

Lattimore remains in Santa Clara to continue to work out in anticipation of beginning to practice next week. After three weeks, Lattimore hopes to put together a convincing case that he can make a contribution.

“I’m staying here,” he said. “I’m going to keep grinding, as always.”

I wonder where he will fit in there.

I would assume he is behind Carlos Hyde as well.

He might be trade bait if he shows a litle flash, or maybe they will trade Gore.

Gore's contract is up after this year, and I don't see the 49ers offering him a lot of $$$.

So next year would likely be a Hyde and Lattimore combo.

So far I've yet to hear anything positive regarding the way he's looked working out and rehabbing, other than he is working very hard. No one's been wowed by his potential.

Would be a fun combo to watch. I really hope Lattimore has a stellar NFL career.

Link?

I mean everyone knows he has some high hurdles to make it back onto the field. Just because we don't hear anything doesn't mean he no one on the staff believes he doesn't have potential.

I'm not saying there's a specific report that anyone is unimpressed, just that I'm not hearing anyone say good things.

Journalists are usually blown away by players with potential practicing in gym clothes.

Well he hasn't even practiced yet. Were they supposed to project his potential by how e works out?

How would journalists have seen Lattimore practice yet? He's only participated in walk-throughs and shell practices to this point.

I'm wondering if I'm getting him confused with Tank Carradine then.

Please ignore my blathering.

San Francisco 49ers running back Marcus Lattimore showed off the health of his knee in some recent videos on Instagram and 49ers.com. It's easy to get just a little bit excited.

I don't they would have cut James if they didn't feel good about Lattimore.

Lattimore's one of the few athletes that transcends rivalries. Just about everyone is rooting for him.

I was disappointed they kept James over Winn in final roster cuts, Winn has shown about as much this year as James has in his career. My guess is that either it's the Baalke Harbaugh political rift we hear so much about or that they figured Carroll would pick him up.

Hope he can have a good career. Feels like his career at USCe was one big "what could have been".

All the reports of Tank are great. His is physically dominating, but doesn't know the playbook yet and that's holding him back. Did you see what he did in the preseason?
