When I was a kid it was mainly math teachers that did this. While I understand what they were trying to do, I think having to spend 2 hours a day on a class you went to for 45 minutes was a little excessive

Homeroom in high school was for homework. Best and most productive 20 minutes of the day.

Lol at this much homework for little kids. Guess the school has to make their parents feel their ridiculous private school tuitions are worth while

Great way to make a child hate school and drop out at 16

I've given homework maybe 4 times in 10 weeks of school...
Who wants to work at home? Not me. Why should I expect it from students?

I'm not reading through 16 pages, but if the kid gets home at 4:45, takes a nap and then does homework from 5:30-10, when does she eat dinner?

Yeah that's why I didn't do homework. Probably why I didn't do well in school. But at least I stood on principle!

There is no damn reason a 4th grader should have assignments in every damn subject every single night. My poor daughter is exhausted. I don't remember doing this much when I was her age.

And when your daughter grows up she will wonder why the Chinese are making all the money.

You either don't have kids or your an OT baller with tutors ?

The shite at private school these days are demanding. Spending 1-2 hours a night for 1st and 3rd grade homework and wife has to do common core math cause I can't do it. You throw in extra curricular activities after school and starting homework at 3-4 just isn't feasible.

The OT never ceases to amaze me

When I went to St George we had homework every night in almost every subject in 4th-6th grade. I remember my backback being full and also carrying books home bc we had so much work to do. It was easily a few hours every single night and very easily were the years I truly hated school. I also remember 4th grade as the year that our religion tests were so damn hard that It started making me hate being raised Catholic.

As others have mentioned, Id speak with the teacher and other parents. Who knows, maybe after talking to other parents youll tealize that they too were wondering this but didnt say anything bc they thought they were the only ones frustrated by this.

Just to add, my daughter is in Pre-K at FCA and has homework at least twice a week. Granted its just worksheets to write letters and numbers but my wife and I were pretty amazed that she was coming home with homework at such an early age

In my experience, the amount of time parents say their children spend on homework each night is inversely proportional to the intelligence of the child.

My wife is an English teacher, and she has parents come in complaining about the three hours that their kid spent on an assignment that took other kids 30-45 minutes to complete. Some kids are just smarter/more efficient/less ADD. The amount of homework perceived by parents is dictated by this, with obvious exceptions and outliers.

Not really. As she progresses to upper grades she be more accustomed to homework. At her age she gets practically no homework. She may have 1 or 2 things to do along with reviewing. That's not even an hour of work. Frankly if she didn't review any more than once a week she would have no issues with remembering her work.
So I would say that we're NOT nazis.

Is FCA that Jimmy Swaggert(sp) school? If it is, then you would do your child justice by pulling them out. My friend sent his son there and later sent him to the Dunham School. His son was so far behind that it was pitiful. When his son got frustrated, he would bang his hands on a desk and start screaming in unintelligible crap.
