Your argument was that this has always happened at LSU, which is incorrect and has been proven here repeatedly.

My acknowledgment that this is a trend that is growing for LSU and other schools doesn't mean that I haven't or am not dealing with it, but in fact quite the contrary. Your refusal to accept reality is leading to your inability to "deal with it".

It doesn't mean I look down upon other fans, but it does mean that I am aware that it is happening more at LSU. I've left early before, and I understand the reasons why someone might leave early and I can empathize but that wasn't what you and I were discussing.

This is what we were discussing.

We must have been going to different Tiger Stadiums throughout the years then. In blowouts, it's the same it has always been

Fact is, it isn't the same as it has always been and you basically contradict yourself here.

I also know that times are changing and people don't NEED to be in the stadium to see the game anymore.

The weather is not the issue (See South Carolina in 2007). But, like I said, unless LSU is playing a good team and the game is close Death Valley is a shell of it's former self.

It doesnt help that half of our fan base has become unbearable to interact with.

heres a thought, don't bring your fricking 3 year old to the game

There's been a major increase in # of preschoolers in TS within the past 2 years. It's crazy to me. They don't understand it, they don't enjoy it, you don't enjoy it, and you have to leave extremely early. I'm not some kid-hater here (I have 6 of my own) but I would never dream of taking a child to an LSU football game before they were about 10. Line up a babysitter, or don't go.

I'm not going to ever tell anyone they ought not bring a child to the game...but this is simply not true.

It's ALWAYS an option, provided you actually consider NOT GOING to the game because you don't have a sitter a real possibility just as most reasonable parents would not bring their young child to some horror movie because they could not find a sitter..

Case in point...I brought my then 3 year old son who had never been to a game and was still in diapers to the TENN Monday night game in 2005. Brutally hot all day, late start, super loud etc. The poor kid was worn out and frazzled by the time LSU first scored and was begging me to take him home.

I realized I had made a HUGE mistake, did the right thing and left with him.

What I had done at first was selfish. I wanted to go to the game, and even though I had no sitter that could watch him, my desire to go trumped the fact that I knew in my heart he was going to be fricking miserable. It had been an option to simply give my tickets away...but I did not take it.

There's always an option to not go. I'm not saying people ought not bring kids...just that pretending that there was nothing else they could do is laughable.

I meant as far as lining up sitters. Maybe they wanted to go and stayed only as long as they thought was good for the child. Nothing wrong with that IMO

God that sounds miserable. I'm lucky to have reasonable people that sit around me. VERY lucky.

I guess it's why I'm so quick to jump down the throat of fans on here...because I'm surrounded by morons largely in my section.

Directly behind me is a young family...the mom is the loudest. Shrill...nasty. EVERY PLAY that does not result in 8+ yards is a failure of Titanic proportions. It's actually comical how often she'll be in the middle of bitching only to have to stop and start cheering when a broken play results in a large gain. Her husband cheered when Lee got hurt in 2008 so that Jefferson would get to come in and replace him...and then routinely screamed racial slurs at Jefferson the following years when Miles refused to listen to him and take him out and put Lee in.

They've never seen the end of a third quarter since having those seats.

As much as I'd love a full stadium, I have to be honest and say I'm perfectly fine with the majority of these knuckleheads leaving and allowing me to enjoy the games in peace.

My opinion is that the biggest contributing factor was that run through the 00's where less people starting accumulating more tickets. Higher ticket packages included with sponsorships, more sponsorship, etc.

Peoples wanted to accumulate as many TAF points as possible for bowl and road game tickets so they started accumulating as many seats as possible, then selling those seats at a high enough profit to cover their TAF fees. At the end of the year, they used the same amount of seats, but accumulated more seats and points. As they sell those tickets to those who are frequently less "invested" into the program it has lead to a less than rabid environment.

Cursing isn't what made Tiger Stadium hostile. Either is crank calling Tebow and Moreno.

The fans in TS on a Saturday night had more passion than alot in the stadium today. The brand of LSU football is bigger and there are more casual and gameday fans than ever before. It's a good problem to have, but a problem nonetheless.

This thread clearly shows there is no solution just a bunch of lame arse excuses why the majority of our fanbase have better things to do with their lives than watch football 7 days out of a year.

Just not enough true football fans left that actually enjoy watching a game regardless of the score or opponent.

Sad that it has come to this but when 70% of the fanbase run for the exits at the drop of a hat when everything doesn't align up perfectly for them it shows there is zero hope of ever returning to the past glory and tradition of lsu football.

It's over

In 2007 and 2011. Ok I will concede that. Congrats. In 2 of our best years ever when we were playing some of the most entertaining football ever against quality opponents in Tiger Stadium, people stayed longer than they did compared to when we are unranked and playing Kentucky. Hell, let's add 2003 to the mix.

The best way I can describe the majority of our fan base and why I hate most of it?

They act EXACTLY like Alabama fans.

I would have to be heavily medicated to sit by them

Interesting point. There are a good number of fans who own "blocks" of several tickets and don't actually need them all, but are afraid to give any up because they know they'll never be able to give them back. I really don't know a solution for that.

bullshite. Outside of some students leaving early their stadium stays packed to the end.

We're 100% worse than bama fans

I kind of just wanted to say that, because even though that's not what you meant here, I have heard it before...and honestly it's selfishness parading as something else. Sometimes being a parent means making the hard, selfless choice...even if that means not taking your kid to a game you really wanted to go to.

Saban called out their fanbase recently for leaving early. Last season I believe?

And I'm not a drinker for games...

Thankfully I have a father/son that live out of town and drive in for all games that sit next to me that have such similar takes as I do on the game, state of the program, etc that it makes up for the majority of assholes around us. I'd have lkely tried to move sections long ago if it were not for those guys.

We do spend a solid amount of time turning and laughing at our own fans...so there's that also.

I agree. I've witnessed tons of idiots taking infants into day games at Tiger Stadium in September. That's ridiculous.

And trust me I know about missing games because of kids. My triplets just turned one and I missed a good bit last year and a few already this year. Luckily my wife and our families make it happen to where I can attend most of the games. With that (grab your torches everyone) I will leave a blowout to get home and in bed because those kids don't give a shite what I was doing the night before the next morning

No, they are as bad as we are. My comparison though isnt about leaving, its about being spoiled. People bitch because we dont win games 80-0. Just like the other guy said, they have to interupt their bitching with cheering when we do something right, then its right back to bitching. I asked a guy that was around me at the Miss St game "If you are this miserable, why do you come to the games?" His response "Cuz I want to see Miles frick it up!" There is nothing a reasonable person can say to that.
