re: SERIOUSLY: What's the best way to keep fans in the stadium?Posted by blackmamba on 10/21/14 at 7:59 am to Tigerfan420
It's the beer and the traffic. Both of these issues should be addressed.

Maybe some free movies on the jumbotrons at the end of the game?

beer isn't the problem
even if they have access to beer, people will leave if they are bored
and traffic is just something that you choose to deal with when going to an event like this
its just a byproduct of our modern society, we have short attention spans and like to have a LCD screen in our face all the time
selling beer will not change any of that, it will probably just make it worse

1. Mix in a few day games (I know its not popular but if you had a couple fans would probably stay). After tailgating all day and its 9:00 and its a blowout people are ready to bail.
2. Cell Service/TVs on all concourses showing other games/ Wifi Service/Recharging area for phones.
3. One Re-Entry of tix back into stadium

I dont think too many folks really stand outside the stadium after the opening kick. At that point, they head to a tailgate or bar to watch. I dont think your idea would really work because the outflow would grealty exceed influx. But since we are talking about such a fresh topic, I will add as many have said before... Not pricing out the die hards would be a solid way to keep butts in the seats. The current pricing is set up to cater to rich, snooty, entitled, and spoiled Tiger fans. I understand the "arms race" of college athletics, but something needs to be done to keep it affordable to those fans who brought you to this point.

Get rid of TV time outs
Get rid of piped in music

They already sell alcohol in the stadium (club). It does not keep people around.
That's actually a pretty solid point. The stadium club and suites are essentially like being at home, and we are arguing that being at home (and a replication of home being a well stocked tailgate with big tv) is one of the things drawing fans away from their seats.
So...what percentage of club and suite fans stay until the end of the game versus, say, fans in the SEZ? If there is a higher percentage of fans staying where TV's and alcohol are plentiful, then this seems like it may factor into keeping them there. If not...?
I don't know the answer...I just found this to be a good point.

Don't even say anything about traffic. What stadium have you gone to and left after the game that did not have traffic?
I've never been to a stadium that was as big as a clusterfrick as LSU is traffic wise

Baton Rouge itself is a giant clusterfrick with traffic

So many people I know will leave the game early due to not wanting to sit in 2+ hours of traffic to get home
looked to me like traffic was probably worse after halftime during the Kentucky game. I left the stadium at 10:15 after the game, stopped at Reginelli's for a pizza and a beer, walked to the car and was in bed at the Holiday Inn by 11:30

Step1: Beer sales until the end of 3rd quarter
Step2: Competitive game. If it is a blowout either way fans will leave that is just the way it is. You can get a jump on traffic or a jump on going to the bar and getting shite faced.
Step3: ?????
Step4: Profit
