How much does a physical therapist make out of school? 5 years out?

My guess is 55k then maybe 80k 5 years out?

Most health care professionals have a relatively static salary scale. If the person is still just a PT, they probably make around 55k to start and I'd be surprised if they made more than ~65k five years later.
ETA: looks like my numbers are dated. Probably in the range of 60-65k coming out, but if you don't increase in duties/responsibility I'd still think that their salary would be somewhat static five years later 70-75k.
I have a wife who is in a similar field of study.

See my edit, but the median is ~80k so I don't think they'd get there after only 5 years of experience. I could be wrong though.

No, my wife graduated 3 years ago and started at $65k in a hospital. You can make more if you are willing to travel.
Shes gotten her little 2% raise every year but Im on her to ask for a more significant bump soon.

Not even close. They will average around 79K a year. BLS.
Edit: Also depends on the setting. Nursing homes pay significantly more than outpatient.

Depends on if they do extra work or not. I know someone who made 80K out the classroom by doing a ton of extra help on weekends.
Like they said earlier, you'll make more outside the hospital and willing to move a lot especially for nursing homes.

Now I do have a PTA that makes >$60,000 and she is worth ever penny.
For just a PTA with a 2-year degree? That's crazy.

8 years, I believe. Definitely a solid second salary for a household

Not just the 3 years to get a doctorate, $100,000 in debt if youre like us. Tough to work during school. Its a bit ridiculous but she enjoys it.
Not 4 years?

Damn don't they go to school for a long time?
To make 60k?
Undergrad then 3 years of Doctoral program.
The money is all over the place, skilled-nursing facilities and weekend shifts at hospitals are going to pay more, along with traveling PT jobs.
And if you just want to practice and not manage/run/or own a clinic you're income is going to remain pretty static.
