Interesting indeed.

A little off-topic but you should check out the "Nazi Hunters" series on Netflix. Very interesting.

So to recap: they became citizens and paid into SS.

"Nazi hunters" came along and offered them a choice to leave without deportation hearings and they could keep their SS.

They leave willingly.

Flash forward 20 years and now people are agitating that we should break a deal from the past because their past is icky and non-PC.

Nice

Our space program owes it success to former Nazis. Von Braun's Saturn V took us to the moon. Look up Operation Paperclip. If you were a Nazi who had something to offer in the sciences or skills and experience in espionage, we'd wipe the slate clean and bring you to America

How come is it that, when any changes to Social Security are discussed, people yell because "it's our money, we paid into the system".

Yet now, though we are dealing with horrific scum, they paid into the system, yet we want to deny them their money?

Sounds like a trial balloon is being floated out there. If people start arguing, "yes, they were horrible people, they should lose their benefits", what group would be next? Say, ministers who hold part-time jobs, but who oppose gay rights, should lose their benefits for being "horrible people"?

OK, so someone answer this for me. If you're in prison and over 65, do you or your dependents get your SS?

I've had this debate once or twice on the morality of taking those men in and giving them a clean slate in return for their skills.

It's always fun and lively because it's so easily debatable on both sides.

AP needs to do a story on how illegals get SSI, which is a form of Social Security.

And holy shite, to give support to how slanted a mindset this was written in:

They bring up the alleged crimes of von Braun into this, even though he doesn't fall under the category of people who fled and got SS payments.

But they refer to him in a roundabout way because the general perception of him among those who recognize the name is mostly positive.

It's more along the lines of: they participated in the system by the rules, and they were part of a political witch hunt later and pressure was placed on them. An express deal was made with them, and now folks want to back out of it.

It doesn't matter how scummy you feel the person is. The US government cut a deal.

You don't just back out of a fair deal made in good faith because you "feel like it."

If you are in jail, no.

But if you were already on SS, your dependants get their payments uninterrupted.

One of the greatest minds in history. And he was charismatic, which is a rare combo.

It's really intriguing that the spoils of war divided up among the Allies was mostly the materials and minds of German R&D

So rare! He was simultaneously a superbly capable administrator and his organization's greatest engineer. Plus, he did a ton of very effective PR. That would be like Eisenhower having the battlefield savvy of Patton and being universally likable at the same time.

Hilter was a twisted up Individual that currupted millions just as blacks sold their own out to slavery! When do we move on and forget the past so we can get along? Despite what the news said, $1500 bucks a month isnt that much money to live on! Right or wrong people need to eat a
nd have shelter! The past can't be changed! I don't want to see you throw elderly people out on their asses! They don't have that much time left, can't. we just leave them alone in there last moments?
