Ole Miss vs LSU Breakdown

For LSU to win this football game, it will take some good bounces. Not that we haven't gotten a few bounces to go our way (literally UF '10 :pimp )
This will be my first game to attend this year. Military has kept me away from being able to go to one. Excited as hell. It actually falls on my birthday. So obviously you know what I'm wishing for.
Keys to victory:
1) Momentum. Whether or not LSU wins this game, both players and fans need to enter the first quarter in complete denial expecting nothing but victory. LSU isn't built to come from behind a 14 point deficit(not that it can't happen). Explode on Ole Miss in the first quarter and keep the game within one score and everyone will start to believe. Keep the big MO on our side.
2) Running the football will be successful. Alabama had immense success running the ball against Ole Miss. Follow that success. Alabama could run the ball at will. Ole Miss's front four are good. No doubt. But their linebackers are undersized. If you break it past the first level, you can get a good 7 yards. It falls on the offensive line to get a good push and open holes.
3) No offensive turnovers. In the Alabama game, two late turnovers (fumble and interception) cost them the game. I also want to count Alabama's missed FG as a turnover. AJ not turning the ball over and no fumbles will allow the LSU offense to be put in good situations. Win the turnover margin. Bo Wallace has made some really bad throws that should have been intercepted. Let that LSU secondary do their thing.
4. Stop the pass. Ole Miss has a terrible run game. They have no backs over 180 pounds. They're speedsters. Their offensive line does not open holes. It's meant for pass protection. Line up and jam the receivers at the line putting pressure on their offense. Tennessee jammed the LOS and forced the receivers to beat the corners and forced Bo to throw an accurate ball. LSU needs to limit OM passing to around 200 yards.
5. Win special teams. How many games has LSU won because of ST? Too many. 2012 OBJ anyone? It doesn't matter if it's not missing a field goal, a great punt/kick return, or just simply pinning them deep on punts. Ole Miss's kicker is suspect. Their punter is suspect.
6. Play like Tigers. This is going to be special. Ala LSU vs OM '03. It's going to be hard hitting every play of the game. Be physical. Know your assignment. Trust in the player next to you to do his assignment. Play with intensity and confidence. If LSU does that, no matter the outcome I will be proud of LSU.

If LSU plays defense like they did against KY, they have a shot. We all know what the offensive game plan will be. If LSU can be successful on 1st and 2nd Downs and convert manageable 3rd Downs, this will enhance their chances. I agree with your number 1 entry. Get off to a great start and get the crowd into it early.

Thank you for actually looking up Ole Miss, and noticing that, while they are good, they are a product of weak teams they have played. Outside of Bama, they haven't played a team worth a crap. Bama turning the ball over, cost them the game. They were pretty balanced with the pass and run, but a true all out running team, with limited turnovers, can beat Ole Miss. All we need is for Jennings to make the occasional pass.
We need to beat them into submission with the run, and the game plan with Kentucky O, will work on Ole Miss' O. Sure they have more talent, but I have confidence that our defense can stop them enough to secure a win.

Good points, but I'll add one more to #4 "D". Jamal Adams and Kwon were always around the QB on Saturday, I think we need to keep a spy on Bro to limit his rushing yards, he's basically their running game.
Make Bro beat us throwing the ball and the INTs will come

good write-up...I would add
7. LSU fans need to step it up. We've been spoiled with success over the years and in some respects lost our edge as a fanbase, and it's time to go back to our "underdog" roots ... 4 quarters of insanity from the crowd. Whether we're in a close game, ahead behind 10, or behind by 10, the fanbase needs to be ready to create a hostile environment for the Rebels, a team that will undoubtedly crack when they start to feel the pressure in the fourth quarter. This is not a "down in front" kind of game, and every fan needs to politely encourage their fellow fans to join in on creating a wild and hostile atmosphere. These kinds of games are the ones that give Tiger Stadium its fame...it's our part as fans to make that magic happen.

I will be pretty pissed off if we make Bo Wallace look like Michael Vick. He hasn't been much of a dual threat this year. If he torches us on the ground, we may be fricked again.

Well he has done so ever since he got to Ole Miss.
I watch him play other teams and think man he's not that good, but every year he smokes us.

It is pretty frustrating. For some reason, we don't mind if the QB runs up the middle for 80 yards.

Bo Wallace ran for 30 yards against Alabama. Total Ole Miss only had 75. Alabama shut that down and made them one dimensional but it was still to the strength of Ole Miss. That's where Ole Miss is successful - passing. No doubt that Treadwell is a beast. They run a lot of bubble screens. Play up on the line and shut down the passing and make a weak run game be successful.
Also. I've watched Bobo over the last few years. He has terrible vision. Great arm strength. Make Bo complete accurate passes to beat us. Don't give up simple routes. Disguise some good coverages because that's Bo's biggest weakness, reading the defense. Watching film of Ole Miss, you can see that they run a very simple offense. One or two progressions and simple routes executed well is their biggest asset. Take it away and they are just as dysfunctional as we are.
Alabama lined up and hit them in the mouth for four quarters. It wasn't until two costly turnovers that they had to get away from that. I watched Yeldon and Henry truck Prewitt. Their defense is good, but it's not designed to beat power teams. Aside from their strong D Line, their players are undersized.

So many people act like Ole Miss is a juggernaut. They have 1 quality win at home against a young team that played poorly.
Ole Miss will lose to Aub and Miss State. And they very well may lose to us if we play well.
