you have been worried for months about this petition and today it was finally submitted. I don't think your know it all position on this has persuaded anyone. if anything, it has made more people favor St. George. No matter the outcome, I'm sure you will go on for years about this issue, but you really should just shut up.

I'm pretty sure all those owners of those $500,000-$750,000 homes along Highland Road and adjacent subdivisions would not like to see their property taxes increase.
Of course, that's the reason why Rainey and the SG organizers have been saying they don't anticipate any tax increases if SG is incorporated or if a new SG school district is formed. If they told the truth, the vote would be 80-20 against.

Hmm, well, I must admit, the proposed area is much larger than I initially thought. Still, I am intrigued by the idea. Fear of the unknown should not be a deterrent.

Let's predict here and now. I say it fails 70/30.
I'm voting for it but hell I voted for Downtown Alive. I'm a glutton for taxes.

I think there are a lot of ways to manage property taxes. My in laws here in Texas stopped paying the school portion of property tax when they reached a certain age. I also think their property tax rate locked at a certain age, which seems like a good idea for fixed income retirees.

My parents are retired and live in BTR and I know they get some sort of reduced property tax rate bc of their age.

Hmmm. We need an answer for that one. I know HS exemptions exist and tax freezes are in place for seniors but a new district/tax entity might be exempt from the freeze.

Except that you are complaining, in a sense, about the current school system. I think it's too late now to register to vote in the November 4 elections, but you could have tried to vote for your local school board representative if you don't like the way things are going.

I think it passes 60-40. People will see it as a protest vote to the way BR has been run. Also it will be a vote against the EBR school board and school system as well. The blue bloods will spend a lot of money to prevent it from happening.

Hell yeah it was. I mailed in the declaration that my CATS tax was 'under protest' so if the lawsuit rules in our favor, I'll get my taxes back.
It sucked that they taxed homeowners which more than likely have transportation so that the people that don't didn't have to pay a higher fare. So now I pay my transportation cost AND theirs so NBR users don't have to pay an extra buck for a ride. This is a perfect example of the attitude of politicians and the direction of the country.
