I was talking to a guy at work and started discussing suicide bombers and the whole meeting Allah 72 virgins things.. Anyway.. Why not just kill yourself with a shot to the head if you wanna meet him so badly.. Do they have to be strapped to a bomb and take other people with them for their ideology to work? It seems the while gun, head, done concept is easier

Yes. Suicide is a sin in Islam, but being a Martyr is not. The radical sects have twisted the definition of being a Martyr by including those who kill the "enemies of Islam" via suicide. So yes, just shooting themselves in the head does not help them get 72 virgins.
